            The monthly Tuensang District Planning and Development Board meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Advisor, Information & Public Relations, SCERT and Village Guards and Chairman DPDB Tuensang, Toshi Wungtung at the Deputy Commissioner Office’s Conference Hall, Tuensang on 7th January 2019. Minister for Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Parliamentary Affairs, CM Chang, MLA Kejong Chang, MLA Toyang Changkong Chang and MLA Muthingnyuba also attended the meeting.

            Reviewing the previous meeting minutes ADC, M. Chaitanya Prasad, IAS in his introductory words asked all the head of offices to remain in station as election season is approaching, and if necessary to intimate the District Administration and leave the charge to second in line as services are required from all the departments.

            The Board after lengthy deliberations recommended the following agendas for approval by the government – Upgradation of Alisopur Health Sub-Centre to Primary Health Centre under Chare Circle, Setting up of College at Longkhim, Creating of SDO (C) Office under ADC Administrative HQ. Shamator Town, Upgradation of SDO (Elect) from Junior Engineer (Power) at Shamator, Creation of Sub-Divisional Water Resources Department at Shamator and Posting of EAC at the newly created Mangko EAC Office under Shamator Sub-Division.

            The Board recommended the proposal for new helipad instead of the Army helipad and also for a new Convention Hall which should be centrally located with smart modern amenities which was proposed and presented by the Minister.

            The Board also approved the proposal presented by the Advisor on Waste Management dumping site. He proposed a new site for dumping as the present one is an eye sore and a health hazard to people living in the district. The Advisor urged the concerned departments to complete the road clearance work in two month-time before the monsoon season arrives stating there should be no excuses for not finishing the works because ample time is being given. The Advisor also talked about the stone quarrying done randomly along the road side and expressed his concern as it causes man – made disasters.

            After the DPDB meeting, the Minister and his team visited the District Hospital Tuensang where they deliberated on shortage of Doctors in 100 bedded hospitals and no doctors in some PHC & CHC. Discussions were also held for steps to be taken for improving district hospitals and Sub-Centres.
