            The full text of the Chief Secretary’s condolence message on the demise of Z. Obed, IAS Retired Chief Secretary on 31st Jan, 2020 is as follows :

“I am deeply pained to learn of the demise of Shri. Z. Obed, IAS Retired Chief Secretary, Nagaland on 30/1/2020. The news has come as a great shock and there is an all pervading sense of loss. Shri. Z. Obed served under various capacities during the formative years of the State and the tasks performed were under the most trying times. He served as Chief Secretary from 1980-1982 and then again from 1987-1989. The people of Nagaland have lost a pioneering leader.

May God grant comfort and solace to the bereaved family members at this time of great grief.”

In connection with the upcoming celebration of Mini-Hornbill festival cum Sekrenyi to be held at Kohima tentatively from 25th to 27th February 2020, the Mini-Hornbill Committee and co-opted members held a meeting at DC’s Office chamber on 29th January 2020. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie, NCS.

The meeting was convened to chalk out the programme and work distribution among the organisations for the upcoming celebration of Mini Hornbill festival. The meeting deliberated on various areas of concern and on how best it can be celebrated by including various segments in the programme which may attract more participation from the general public.

During the meeting, members shared their views based on last year’s experiences and put forth various suggestions for the three-day celebration with various segments maintaining the traditional custom and identity of the Angamis in order to have the celebration in a befitting manner. The members came up with suggestion that the first day of the festival may focus primarily on the essence of the ‘SEKRENYI’ highlighting the rich culture and tradition of the Angami and for the second and third day, it may include exhibition of local organic food, handicrafts, indigenous  games, showcasing of local talents in music, sports etc.

The meeting also decided to have its next meeting on 4th February 2020 at 2:00 P.M in the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner Kohima.

            Financial Inclusion (FI) Mela in commemoration of Republic Day 2020 under Zubza block was held on 29th January 2020 at Council Hall, Sechü-Zubza

            Delivering the keynote address on Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission Schemes (NSRLM), Kenivole Mejura, Asstt. District Program Manager (NSRLM) DMMU, Kohima stated that NSRLM has been implemented in the Block for the past two years. He said that the NSRLM was  an elevation mission for the rural people across the country where the mission has been headed by the women with the benefits for the whole household which have been working under a framed work where professionals from the NHRM, community cadres, helping and assisting the communities in the villages and providing different services including, community convergence, financial inclusion and innovation such as market linkages and capacity building in promoting village level organisation where 10 or more SHGs come together to form village level organisation for financial institution.

            Stating that to make institution more effective and functional under the farm livelihood, livelihood farm and non-livelihood farming have been implemented at different levels where agricultural promotion as well as livestock activities are being promoted for the nutritional and organic farming, mainly focused on the improvement of paddy and piggery, poultry, health sanitation, proper housing and social inclusion such as working with people with disabilities and elderly people. She said that the department has tied up with different line departments to get access to the rights and entitlements and ensured that every SHG has a bank account to get access to various insurances, Credits, and pension under various schemes. She mentioned that under DDPMJSY, skills and placement are also promoted for the unemployment youths. She urged the participants to create awareness to the villages so that women are aware of their rights and entitlements to avail the benefits.

            The program was organized by NSRLM Block Mission Management Unit Sechü-Zubza, RD Block, Credit Lingages with Bank and Social Security schemes was elaborated by SBI Sechü-Zubza, RD programs and schemes (MGNREGA) by RD Block, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana yojna (PMMVY) by social welfare department, Pradhan Mantri Shram yogi Mandhan (PMSYM) by Labour department, Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) by Manager Clairvoyance Technologies and overview of NSRLM under Sechü-Zubza was delivered by Block Program Manager (BPM) NSRLM,  BMMU Sechü-Zubza, Vikepelie Mejura.

            Khiamniungan festival Khaotsaoshi Hoka is an important festival observed every year from 28th to 30th January. It was observed on 30th Jan 2020 at KCC Treasurer’s residence, Pheniang, Noklak town.

            President, Sukoi GB said that the festival is observed every year to give thanks to God for the good harvest and also invoking the blessings of God upon the new crops as well as for safe guarding of lives in the family. Both menfolk and womenfolk from the community participated in the cultural dance during the festival.

            Deputy Commissioner, Peren, Sentiwapang along with all the line departments welcomed Inter- Ministerial Central team at Forest Gate Jalukie at 9:00 AM on 30th January 2020 to accompany IMCT Team for spot assessment of previous monsoon damaged in the district. After the spot assessment, a brief meeting regarding on Disaster Management was held at DC’s Conference Hall, DC complex, New Peren.

            A short power point  presentation was given by Kedigong on damages that happened during the past  2019 and status report under Peren district State Disaster report fund ( SDRF) from 2017-2019, and Emergency Relief Fund.             SDO(C) Phomching i/c Imliwapang Aier, NCS,  in a travel advisory informed on 29th January 2020 that as a result of damage of road near Teghi bridge on the way to Phomching Hq/Longwa village due to landslide, heavy vehicle movement through the area will not be permissible till repair works are completed.

Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Limawapang Jamir has informed all concern that the National Dadabase of Arms License (NDAL) has been reopened. Therefore, all Arms License holders under Mokokchung District who are yet to obtain the Unique Identification Number (UIN) for their Arms License have been informed to obtain the same from the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung before 29th June 2020. Without UNI, all Arms License will be rendered invalid. Therefore, all concerns have been requested to apply for UNI within the stipulated time.

Further, as per Section26 of Arms Rule, 2016, the entire old Arms License Booklet will be replaced by the new License Booklet as per category wise. Therefore, all Arms License holders have been directed to submit and replace the License Booklet from the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung.

Literary session as part of the ENCSU Conference cum Sports Meet was held at Borgohain hall, Yingli college, Longleng on date 29th January 2020 with Menuikholie Kire, Joint Directorate (Admin & RUSA) Higher Education as special guest and B.S Nanglang Phom MLA as Literary guest.

            Calling upon the student members of ENCSU Kire said that students have lots of responsibilities and to be successful in life one should not shy away from their duties. He called upon them to be hardworking and give their best in whatever they do, not only in studies but also in other activities. Student’s main focus should be on academics, he said and urged them to be dedicated and hardworking.

B.S.Nanglang Phom in his speech shared some of the practical problems he faced during his college life. He said that college and younger days are the most crucial stage and to compete with others we have to be smart and dedicated.

            Mane Phom delivered the exhortation while welcome address was given by Serichem Sangtam, Vice president ENCSU.

            The Department of Youth Resources & Sports has informed that the selection test for admission into State Sports Academy, IGS Kohima in Football (Girls) Discipline under 14 years for the academic session 2020-21 will be held on 4th February 2020 at IG Stadium, Kohima from 10:00 a.m. onwards.

            Admission will be considered for the above mention age categories as on 1st February 2020. The prescribed application form will be issued on the selection date mentioned above.

            The application along with attested copy of Birth Certificate for proof of age, entry fee of Rs.50/,  Aadhaar card and 2 (two) copies of latest passport size photo must be submitted on the selection day.

FAQ’s on Novel Corona Virus (2019-nCoV)

  1. What is 2019 Novel Coronavirus?
  2. 2019 Novel Coronavirus, or 2019-nCov, is a new virus first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. It is named novel as it has not been previously identified and new.

Q: what is the source of 2019 Novel Corona virus?

A: At present exact source of infection of 2019 Novel Corona Virus has not been identified. Coronaviruses are a large family of Viruses, some causing illness in people and others that circulate among animals. Initially, many of the patients in the outbreak in Wuhan, China reportedly had some link to large seafood and animal market, suggesting the virus likely emerged from an animal source.

Q: What are the initial symptoms of Novel Coronavirus 2019?

A: Current symptoms reported for patients with 2019-nCoV include acute onset of fever, cough and difficulty in breathing.

Q: How does the Virus spread?

A: The specific modes of transmission of the Virus are not clear yet since it is a novel virus. This virus probably originally emerged from an animal source but now seems to be spreading from person to person. It’s not clear yet how easily 2019-nCoV spreads from person to person. It is thought to have happened mainly when an infected person coughs or sneezes, similar to how influenza and other respiratory pathogens spread.

Q: Has anyone in India got the infection?

A: As of 29th Jan.2020, No. Thus far, there is no report of any laboratory confirmed case 2019-nCoV. Suspected cases are being identified through surveillance in India.

Q: What is GoI doing about 2019-nCoV?

A: A 24*7 helpline has been set up by the GoI at NCDC, New Delhi to answer all queries regarding the disease. The GoI is closely monitoring the situation and has ascertained the level of preparedness in every State of India. As this is an emerging, rapidly evolving situation the GoI will continue to provide updated information as it becomes available.

Q: How can I help protect myself?

A: There is currently no vaccine to prevent 2019-nCoV infection. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to this virus.

  • All non-essential travel to China or affected Countries to be avoided.
  • Observe good personal hygiene.
  • Practise frequent hand washing with soap.
  • Cover your mouth when coughing and sneezing.

Q: What should I do if I had close contact with someone who is a confirmed case of 2019-nCoV?

A: Self monitor your health starting from the day of last contact with such a case and continue for 28 days. Watch for the development of acute onset of signs and symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing

If you observe any of the above symptoms visit the nearest health facility for further advice and treatment. Further you must furnish the details of exposure patient to your health care worker.

Q: Is it safe to travel to Wuhan, China or other Countries where 2019-nCoV 2019 cases have occurred?

A: All non essential travel to China is to be avoided.

If the travel is unavoidable- At all times follow the simple public health measures.

  • Observe good personal hygiene.
  • Monitor your health closely.
  • Seek medical attention promptly if you feel sick.
  • If you feel sick during travel, inform airline crew about your illness and seek mask from the airline crew.

A: Currently, there is no vaccine available to protect against 2019-novel Corona Virus.

Q: What are the treatments?

A: There is no specific antiviral treatment available for 2019- novel Corona Virus infection. People infected with 2019- novel Corona Virus should receive supportive care to help relieve symptoms. However,You may receive Anti-biotics since bacterial co-infection is possible.

Q: Should I be tested for 2019- novel Corona Virus?

A: If you develop acute onset of fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or shortness of breath, you should visit nearest health facility and the doctor’s will decide if you need to be tested for 2019- novel Corona Virus depending upon your history of travel to China/ affected Countries or contact with any suspected/ lab confirmed case.
