COLLEGES MUST PRODUCE QUALITY STUDENTS: DR WATIJUNGSHI

            A seminar on the theme ‘Teachers: Transformational leaders’ was held at State College of Teacher Education (SCTE) multipurpose hall Kohima on 5TH April 2019.

            The seminar is jointly organised by SCTE Kohima along with M. Ed 4th semester and IQSC. The seminar is organised to enable teachers to be efficient, effective and to bring about a shift in their role to be proactive and innovative in school and the society.

            Speaking at the seminar Additional Director Dr. Watijungshi said that our nation is going through a tremendous educational reformation by the introduction of many new methodologies and research findings thereby, bringing many new changes in the educational system.

            He said that the National Eligibility Test (NET) and Academic & Administrative Audit (AAA) the two quality assessment methodology introduced by UGC in all the collages have bought about new changes in the quality of education in Nagaland. He also lauded the SCTE College for being one of the best performing colleges and also imparting quality education in Nagaland.

            Also talking about the equality of education in Nagaland where there are 15 government colleges and 44 private colleges he said, that all these colleges should get equal opportunities. He further added that the infrastructure does not matter so long as the colleges are producing quality students. He also remarked that in the educational field female are dominating and doing much better in our state.

            He said that the M.Ed students are teachers of teachers and play an important role in transforming the teachers to become leaders not only in the classroom but for the society and the church.

            Dr. Bendangyapangla, Faculty In-charge, M.Ed in her welcome address, said that the college has completed five years and is moving forward for permanent affiliation with Nagaland University this year. She also mentioned that this college is the first college in Nagaland to introduce PG course and that the M.Ed programme is a professional programme which has been visualized to prepare personnel who can work as policy makers in education, curriculum specialists and also administrators and leaders. This seminar was conducted for students to not only experience the academic aspects but for them to get hands on training on leadership where they would learn the qualities it took to become a great leader. She further remarked that as a concept of leadership changes from generation to generation, in the 21st century the students should base their leadership on teamwork and be more flexible in nature.

KLST CELEBRATES GOLDEN JUBILEE UNDER THE THEME ‘MERA TASEN JANGZÜ’

            Speaking on the theme ‘Mera Tasen Jangzü’ (Trumpet for a New Step) during the Kohima Longjang Senso Telongjem Golden Jubilee celebration at Molu Ki, Kohima on 4th April 2019, Limawati Ao, Director Information & Public Relations, said that before the technology age, soldiers in battlefields used trumpets or bugles to give signals and warnings to their fellow soldiers.  In the same way, a community also needs to listen and see to these signals and warnings as it moves along with the change of times. He stated that human development began from prehistory where changes took place in a slow pace but now in this data age, the internet has brought about vast and rapid developments that it is known as the ‘Age of Acceleration’, and with these rapid developments the world has become a global village, he added.

            He, therefore called upon the Kohima Longjang Senso Telongjem that since it is now a matured Union, it should retrospect on the past mistakes and move along with the change of times not living in the past but talking about advancement, economic upliftments, tourism, education, marketing avenues, etc and be leaders and guide for the villagers and the village.

  1. Sashimongba Pongen, a pioneer during the founding of the union, recalled that the Kohima Longjang Senso Telongjem was founded by eight elders in the years 4th April 1969 and also shared how the elders worked tirelessly. He called upon the KLST to walk in their footsteps with honesty, hard work and live in truth.

            T.N. Mannen IAS (Retd) in his exhortation said that we need to be punctual, live with the times and use time properly. He called upon the KLST to be united with empathy, love and truth and move forward with new thoughts, vision and ideas and not to live in the past. Exhortation was also given by Er. Tsuktinungsang, Chief Engineer, Department of Water Resources,

            Short speeches were also delivered by President, Kohima Aor Telongjem, Chiden Yaden, President, Kohima Asetkong Senso Telongjem, Supongyanger Imsong, President, Dimapur Longjang Senso Telongjem, Y. Among Jamir, President, Longjang Senso Telongjem Mokokchung, I. Ali Aier and Longjang Village Council, Wailemba Jamir.

            The Golden Jubilee Souvenir was released by Phutoli L. Jamir during the function. A one minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the departed. The main highlight of the programme included recitation of Jubilee poetry, cultural folk songs and special songs presentation.

FINAL TRAINING FOR POLLS AT TUENSANG

 

            DC and DEO Tuensang conducted the 3rd and last round of training for the Presiding officers and 1st polling officers for the forthcoming parliamentary election at GHSS Tuensang on 5th April 2019. The final round of training for the 2nd and 3rd Polling officers is scheduled for 6th of April 2019.

LOG DRUM PULLING MARKS SECOND DAY OF KONYAK AOLEANG FESTIVAL AT MON

            With log drum pulling by Mon village, the second day of Aoleang Mini hornbill celebration was held at Mon Town on 4th March 2019.

            Brigadier Suresh Sheoran, Sena Medal Commander 7 Sector AR, Tuensang who was the guest of honour stated that, peace is the only thing in the world which leads the people to progress and prosperity. The Assam Rifle is doing every possible ways in promoting peace in the region, he stated.

            Stating that Konyaks have rich culture, tradition and heritage, he said that he is lucky to be part of the Land of the Angh and sought cooperation of the general mass to approach the Assam Rifle whenever help is required.

            He informed that the AR is sponsoring and giving career guidance for students wanting to join Sainik School, for skill development and for those wanting to join the Indian Army may approach the AR for assistance.

            Chubawati Longchar, President Ao Senden who was a special invitee urged the gathering to join hands in rebuilding the age old relationship of Aos and Konyaks and rebuild relations that had gone astray in course of time.

            Other highlights of the day included Phom Union, Mon Town displaying cultural troupe dance, log drum beating by Chi Union, Longkei Union, Longwa Union, Tobu Union, Chen Union and Mopong Hongkong.

            ADC & DEO Pughoboto K. Mhathung Tsanglao has informed to all persons drafted for General Election to Lok Sabha 2019 Election Duty, whose names have been finalised after 2nd randomisation of Polling Personnel 30th March 2019 have been reminded that third phase of Training of all Polling Personnel will be held on 9th April from 10:30 am at GHS Pughoboto (Male) and Polling Personnel (Female) at DB’s Court, ADC Office.

SVEEP PROGRAM HELD AT PHEK

 

            A programme on Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was held at 5th NAP Badminton Hall on 5th April 2019 with the theme “My vote my responsibility.”       In the key note address Deputy Commissioner Sachin Jaiswal called upon the uniformed personnel to be dutiful while performing their duties. Krodi Rhetso, Phek 5th NAP Commandant called upon the gathering to be alert in all times.

            “The Voice” was sung by Grace, “My vote my responsibility” by Bewe-u Tunyi, District Icon and “A Tune” by Hobito. The function was chaired by T.Lemlila Sangtam, Phek SDO (C) Phek HQ.

TRAINING FOR POLLING OFFICIALS FOR PEREN DISTRICT CONCLUDES

            The final phase of training for Polling Officials of Peren District for the 17th Lok Sabha Parliamentary election was held at All Saints Higher Secondary School, Town Hall and PTWWO Hall in Old Peren  on 4th and 5th April, 2019.

            The topics imparted  included demonstration of EVM and VVPAT, sealing and questions and clarification, filling of forms and management of envelops after polling and discussion hour; filling of register of voters, other forms and management of envelops after poll and discussion, group-wise hands on with EVM and VVPAT.

            The resource persons were Albert, Vice Principal, Dr Kekuchol Pusa Assistant Professor of Peren Govt. College & ALMT, Zekope Thele PGT, GHSS JLK & DLMT and Alum Zeliang, IOI, DIC were the Master Trainers.

MEETING FOR SECTOR OFFICERS AND SECTOR COMMANDERS OF PEREN

 

            Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Peren, Sarita Yadav, IAS has called a meeting for Sector Officers and Commanders under Peren district on 8th April, 2019 at Old DC Office, Peren Town at 11:00 hours.

FINAL RANDOMISATION OF POLLING PERSONNEL FOR PEREN DISTRICT

 

            Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Peren, Sarita Yadav, IAS has informed that the third and final randomisation of polling personnel for Peren will be done on 7th April 2019, 10:00 hours at Old DC Office Peren Town.

            Micro- Observer, Romeo and all political parties under Peren district have been directed to attend randomisation.

            Nodal Officer for EDC and Postal Ballots, SDO (C) Jakhama, Alemyapang Longchar has informed the Electors who have applied for EDC from Kohima District are directed to collect the same from EDC Cell, Deputy Commissioner office Kohima starting from 6th April to 8th April 2019 during Office hours.

FINAL TRAINING FOR POLLING PERSONNEL AT KIPHIRE DISTRICT

            The final training for polling personnel of Kiphire District for the forthcoming election of Lok Sabha 2019 was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Building Kiphire on 5th April 2019.

            The master trainers imparted training on the method of operation of Control Unit, Ballot Unit & VVpat in order to avoid unnecessary failure during the polling day in the District. The final polling personnel training will continue on 6th of April 2019.

BRIEFING ON DISTRIBUTION OF PHOTO VOTERS SLIP AT DIMAPUR

            A short briefing on distribution of photo voters slip was held with all the BLOs of Dimapur District on 5th April 2019 at Commission of Taxes Dimapur conference hall for 4 Ghaspani-l, 5 Ghaspani-II, 1 Dimapur-I, 2 Dimapur-II, 3-Dimapur-III A/Cs.

            Briefing the gathering ADC Dimapur, Sharon Longchari stated that BLOs have the most important role to play in the election process and reminded them that they are the representative of the election commission of India and requested the BLOs to take the role seriously. DC & DEO Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol also exhorted the BLOs.

            The photo voters slip will be distributed by the respective Booth Level Officers on 6th and 7th April 2019.

VEHICLES REQUISITIONED FOR LOK SABHA GENERAL ELECTION DUTY

            In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha General Election 2019 scheduled to be held on 11 April 2019, more than five hundred Government vehicles requisitioned for election related duties were reported till date, out of which vehicle requirements for Pughoboto, Phek and Kiphire have been dispatched on 5th April 2019 from Kohima Local Ground.

            The Transport Cell also informed that show cause notice has been issued to those requisitioned Government Vehicles which failed to report to the concerned authority to submit their explanation in written as to why disciplinary action should not be taken on or before 6th April 2019.

NBSE NOTIFIES

            The Nagaland Board of School Education notifies for the information of all concerned that:

  1. The Nagaland Board of School Education shall conduct the Nagaland State Entrance Examination (NSEE) 2019 for Para-Medical/Agri and Allied degree Courses.
  2. The Nagaland State Entrance Examination will be held on 11th May 2019.
  3. The Centre of Examination shall be in Kohima Town.
  4. The questions of the NSEE shall be set from the existing NBSE’s syllabus of Classes XI & XII (Common Core Syllabus) Science stream.
  5. All questions of NSEE shall be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) only.
  6. There shall be only 1 (one) paper consisting of 180 (one hundred and eighty) items.
  7. The breakup of items subject wise shall be as follows: Biology – 90 items, Physics – 45 items and Chemistry – 45

            Admit cards shall be issued from the Office of the Board on payment of examination fee. Other details shall be notified in local dailies at a later date.
