DIPR TO SCREEN FILM ON MAHATMA GANDHI AT STATE ACADEMY HALL, KOHIMA
A film based on Mahatma Gandhi’s life story will be screened at the State Academy hall, Kohima in 2nd October 2019 at 2:00 pm commemorating the Gandhi Jayanti. The programme is being organized by the Department of Information and Public Relations.
A marathon run to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, organised by the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, will also be held on 2nd October 2019 at 6:00 am from PHQ junction to Local Ground, Kohima.
DPRO DIMAPUR TO SCREEN FILMS AT CITY TOWER
To mark the 150th birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October, District Public Relation Officer Office Dimapur will be screening short films/documentaries at Dimapur City Tower junction and Railway station starting from 5:30 pm.
Along with film on Gandhi, video on plastic awareness titled, “Are You Aware” will also be screened for the general public.
OBSERVANCE OF INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR OLDER PERSONS AT MON
Observance of International Day for Older Persons was held on 1st October 2019 at Council Hall, Mon under the theme, ‘The Journey of Age Equality’.
Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS said the Day is being celebrated in order to make people aware about the issues which affects the elders as well as to appreciate their contributions towards the society.
DC emphasized on the need to understand the problems of the elderly people and their needs and to devise plans to solve the issues for the long run. DC also felicitated the elderly people during the occasion.
District Welfare Officer, Z. Murie said the welcome address. Significance of International Day for the Older Persons was delivered by Senior Supervisor Phomching, Moba. The programme was organised by the department of Social Welfare, Mon.

IDOP 2019 HELD AT TUENSANG
The department of Social Welfare and United Tribes of Elderly Leaders Union (UTELU) Tuensang has organized a celebration and prayer programme for the senior citizens of Tuensang District on 1st of October 2019 at CKS Hall Tuensang. The programme was organized with the theme “The Journey to Age Equality”.
Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang, Mohammed Ali Shihab said that the senior citizens are the blessings of the district and their prayers are the source of blessings to the districts. He said the senior citizens are the inspiration, motivation and encouragement for life to move on. He also addressed on the sorry state of the medical areas exclusively for the senior citizens but that should be solved in times. He also encouraged all the gathering to take responsible and work as a good will ambassador for the senior citizens so that at least their problems can be heard by the responsible institutions.
The welcome note was addressed by L. Tinu Sangtam, District Welfare Officer Tuensang while short speech was addressed by N. Khoni, Hd. GB Tuensang HQ. BYE Sangtam Church Tuensang presented a special number.
The Department also nominated Ramchi Chang aged 108 and Teshae aged 94 as oldest Man and Woman respectively. And the Pastor Phom Baptist Church graced the senior citizens with special prayers for their wellbeing and long life.
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS OBSERVED AT DIPHUPAR
On the occasion in the International Day of Older Persons, the Dimapur District Social Welfare Office organized a function in honour of Older Persons in the district under the theme “Journey to Age Equality” at Jubilee Hall, Ao Baptist Church Diphupar, Dimapur on 1st October 2019.
DC Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol graced the programme as special guest. Calling on all sections of society and institutions to re-examine on how the older persons are being cared in the society, DC urged all, specially the younger generation, to render their service for the senior citizens in every possible way and to pledge themselves to help older persons age gracefully. DC also gave away the Senior Citizen Award of Dimapur district to Rev. Dr. Noksangchila and Khevihe Chopi.
Other highlights of the programme included short speeches by awardees, invocation prayer by Pastor ABCD, Lipok Jamir; welcome speech by CDPO Dhansiripar, Kedozokho Peseyie; keynote address by CDPO Medziphema, I. Tsungrosongla Ao and special number by Anganwadi workers & helpers of Diphupar A and Hekugha H. Shikhu and vote of thanks by CDPO Niuland, Akali. JALUKIE TOWN, PEREN CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS BY HONOURING SENIOR CITIZENS
Under the aegis of Social Welfare Department, Peren, International Day of Older Persons on the theme “The Journey to Age Equality” was observed on 1st October 2019 at Women Welfare Organization’s Conference Hall, Jalukie Town.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jalukie, Dr. Tinujongshi Chang spoke on the theme “The Journey to Age Equality” where he stated that the International Day of Older Persons is celebrated throughout the world with an objective of promoting public awareness to eradicate the discrimination and rejection faced by the senior citizens in the family and society, and therefore urged the younger generation to give special treatment and respect to them. He requested the Social Welfare Department, Peren to disseminate information about the schemes and legal provisions which are made available for the benefits of senior citizens.
District seniormost citizens were felicitated, namely, Head GB Jalukie town, Kiasinlak and Heingauchule. Also gifts were presented to the senior citizens present in the programme in recognition of their contributions for the good of the society.
The programme was chaired by CDPO Ahthibung, Mangliyangba Lkr, while vote of thanks was proposed by CDPO Jalukie, Namhuheing.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS OBSERVED AT MELURI
International day of older person was observed on 1st Oct’ 2019 at Meluri village council hall, organised by Meluri Village Women Society, with the theme “the journey to age equality”.
Chairperson Meluri Village Women Society, Zhitho Poji speaking on the occasion congratulated older persons for having being blessed with long life and also thanked the octogenarians for having lived an exemplary life and being a blessing to the younger generations of Meluri community.
Nyuletho Nyuthe, retired teacher and octogenarian chaired the function where he also said that there are 132 older persons who have crossed 75 years of age including 47 women and 35 men who have crossed 80 years of age in Meluri village.
Folk tune by both men and women was presented by the octogenerians. Altogether 87 elderly persons attended the function.
STREET PLAY ON MAHATMA GANDHI AT MOKOKCHUNG
Mokokchung in collaboration with 2nd October 2019 150 years of Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary and its Swachhata Hi Seva programme, the Nagaland Gandhi Ashram Chuchuyimlang presented a flash mob and street play on cleanliness and life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi at central point, Imlong Place junction Mokokchung. The programme was held in the presence of ADC Mokokchung, W. Manpai Phom.
The play was depicted on the life and Philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi reflection on our present social pollution, Eco, pollution and plastic pollution. Care taker of the Ashram Mr. Aotoshi said core teachings and celebration of Mahatma Gandhi is held every year in the Ashram, came to district head quarter this year to reach out to more people and spread the message of Gandhi and his philosophy and also to extend support to Massive Plastic Waste Shramdaan programme which is to be launch on 2nd Oct. 2019 Gandhi 150th birth Anniversary.
While speaking with ADC he also said that he is very thankful to the Ashram for big co-ordination and participation he also said the play is also a part of awareness programme in collaboration with Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) programme which is to be launch on 2nd October 2019 on 150th Gandhi Birth Anniversary.
STATE-WIDE MASS SHRAMDAAN TO BE CONDUCTED ACROSS THE STATE
As part of “Swachhata Hi Seva – Cleanliness Is Service” 2019, a campaign with the theme “Plastic Waste Shramdaan” which started from 11th September 2019 – 27th October 2019, The Home department (GAB-II), has in a circular, informed that a state-wide mass Shramdaan for collection of plastic waste and its disposal will be conducted on 2nd October, 2019 across the State.
Therefore, all government departments, agencies, educational institutions, faith based organizations, police, paramilitary and all the citizens have been requested to actively participate by carrying out mass social work in their own offices, wards, villages and residential premises in order to make Nagaland “Single-Use Plastic Free”.

FOREST OFFICE COMPLEX KOHIMA DECLARED PLASTIC FREE
The Forest Office Complex, Kohima under the Department of Environment, Forests & Climate Change was declared as Plastic Free Office on 1st October. As a part of the “Swachhata Hi Seva-Cleanliness is Service” under the Plastic waste Shramdaan, the department initiated the ban on plastic items in and around the office.
During the program, DFO Kohima, Rongsenlemla Imchen highlighted on the importance on ban of single use plastic. Dr. Kenei Miachieo, Conservator of Forest encouraged the staff to be a responsible citizen in reducing the use of plastic not only in the office but also in our everday affairs. He said that Forest department being the nodal department for protection of environment, it is a fitting initiative by the department to raise awareness on the hazzards of plastic pollution. Ngampie administered the pledge to the gathering on “Not to Use Plastic”. A mass social work was conducted in the office complex which will continue till 2nd October 2019 culminating with the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
RN RAVI TO LAUNCH JAL SHAKTI CAMPUS & JAL SHAKTI GRAM AND SWACHH CAMPUS
Nagaland Governor, R.N. Ravi will launch Jal Shakti Campus & Jal Shakti Gram and Swachh Campus in commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October 2019 at Auditorium, Kohima College, Kohima. The programme is being organised by the Department of Higher & Technical Education, Government of Nagaland in collaboration with the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
Life Sketch of Mahatma Gandhi “Father of the Nation” will be given by Assistant Professor, Kohima College, Dr. Eunice Alinger; a brief report on Jal Shakti Campus & Jal Shakti Gram and Swachh Campus will be delivered by State Programme Coordinator, MGNCRE, Nutsulu Rhakho. National Anthem will be presented by Kohima Science College (Autonomous).

DIETHONO NAKHRO TO RECEIVE CLASSIC AWARD 2019
The Classic Club, Kohima will be organizing the Classic Award 2019 presentation ceremony at Hotel Japfü, Kohima on 2nd October 2019 at 4 pm.

MON TO ENFORCE PROPOSED PARKING LOTS AND TRAFFIC REGULATION
Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS, in an order, stated that on the expiry of 30 days period for submission of claims or objections with regard to the proposed parking lots and traffic regulations within Mon town, it has been informed that the proposed parking lots and traffic regulation within Mon will be enforced with immediate effect.
Further, the DC has requested to strictly adhere to the traffic regulations and parking lots within Mon town in order to maintain smooth flow of traffic.

DC LONGLENG INFORMS
The District Administration Longleng has informed to all the citizens of Longleng that a mass social work for collection of plastic waste would be conducted on 2nd October 2019 in Longleng town and adjoining villages along with the rest of the country under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign.
The Deputy Commissioner, Longleng will launch the social work at DC office complex at 08:00 am and will administer the Shramdaan with Swachhata pledge. During the program poly bags will also be distributed to all the traders and shopkeepers before the commencement of the social work.
Therefore, all the ward presidents, government officers, heads of educational institutions, NGOs and civil societies are requested to supervise and monitor in their respective jurisdiction and the citizens to proactively participate in the social work to achieve plastic free environment in Longleng.
WORKSHOP ON ANTI-PLASTICS AT CHANGTONGYA
Swachhata Hi Seva awareness campaign to shun single use of plastic and ensure cleanliness was organised on 26th and 27th September 2019 at Baptist Church Electrical Fellowship, Christain Revival Church, Town hall and Changtongya Town Baptist Church, covering 11 wards under Changtogya Town.
The programme was organised by Changtongya Town Council in partnership with youth department CTBA. The people were made aware of effect of plastics on environment, alternative to plastic and concluded with pledge by all participants to avoid using plastics.

SWACHHATA HI SEVA OBSERVED AT TENING
Swachhata Hi Seva was observed at Tening on 30th September, 2019. The district administration, government departments, village councils, youth, NGOs including Assam Rifles joined the awareness campaign programme for Swachhata Hi Seva.
The programme was chaired by Khiukhainile, President of Tening Town Women Welfare Organisation. ADC, Rhosietho Nguori highlighted on the role of Village/Town authorities on plastic waste management, SDO PHED, Er. Volie Rentta delivered a lecture on “Harmful Effects of Plastics” with discussion for action plan.

DC DIMAPUR TO KICK START MASS SHRAMDAM
Commemorating the 150th birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol will take the lead in taking the Swachhata Hi Seva Pledge and officially kick off the Mass Shramdam from City Tower Junction Dimapur at 6 am. Administrator DMC, Albert Ezung will deliver a short speech while UDO and Member-Secretary Pangzangkokba will present the welcome note.
DC Dimapur has requested all officers and staff of various departments under Dimapur district, military/ paramilitary, shopkeepers and all citizens of Dimapur to attend and participate in the launching programme of Swachhata Hi Seva along with nationwide mass movement of collection and segregation of plastic waste.
STATE LEVEL PROGRAMME FOR KOHIMA SMART CITY MISSION TO BE HELD AT KOHIMA
In commemoration of 150th years of celebrating the Mahatma, a State level programme will be held on 2nd October, 2019 at 8 am, at NBCC Convention Centre, Kohima, where Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio and Advisor, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Neikliesalie Nicky Kire will be delivering speeches.
Highlights of the programme include release of ANGIKAAR video on 8 verticals followed by pledge. 11 (Eleven) ULB Sanitation Vehicles and 19 (Nineteen) Smart Vehicles will also be flagged off by Chief Minister and Advisor, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs.
Kohima Smart City Mission will also release Anti-Plastic Theme song, Release of promotional video on the 100 days special initiatives on sanitation, Distribution of cloth Bags to the 19 wards of Kohima Town, Launching of 5(Five) Water ATMs, 100 days challenge award for Best Sanitation and best Eco activity.
STATE LEVEL WORKSHOP ON GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
The Patent Information Center (PIC) under Nagaland Science and Technology Council (NASTEC) Department of Science and Technology, Government of Nagaland is organising a one-day state level workshop on Geographical Indication and Intellectual Property Rights on how to secure the traditional knowledge and traditional right at a state level for the respective Tribal Apex Organizations, Weavers and concerned stakeholders in Nagaland and line departments on 4th October, 2019 at Hotel Japfu, Kohima.
Advisor Science and Technology, Information Technology & Communication, New & Renewable Energy, Mmhonlumo Kikon will be the special guest for the occasion.
WOKHA DPDB MEETING POSTPONED

MASS SOCIAL WORK ON 2nd OCTOBER 2019
ADC Wokha, Mhathung Tsanglao has informed all residents of Wards/Colonies under Wokha Town Council jurisdiction that a mass movement/cleanliness drive will be organized on 2nd October 2019 as part of observation of Swachhata Hi Seva- Cleanliness Is Service, 2019 with special focus on cleaning/clearing of drainage and collection of plastic waste only in the respective ward/colony from 7:00 AM onwards.
All plastic wastes will be collected and stocked in designated locations to be identified by the colonies which will be transported to the collection point at the WTC slaughter house area from 3rd to 7th October 2019
Therefore, all wards/colony authorities have been informed to mobilize the residents/business establishments/schools in their respective wards/colony for mass public participation and successful conduct of the plastic waste collection drive for which collection bags will be provided.

POSHAN MAAH LAUNCHED AT NOKLAK
Poshan Maah was launched at Noklak on 19th September 2019 by ADC Noklak, Chaitanya Prasad, IAS. More than 650 people participated during the launching programme. Besides Administrative and ICDS officials, AWWs, AWHs, BPM, ASHA Coordinator and ASHA health workers from CHC Noklak, as well as teachers and students from government schools under Noklak Hqs. participated which included adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers and children. The distribution was done at the AWCs under Noklak Hqs. with the theme ‘Nutrition and Sanitation’, CBEs were organised.
Drawing competition was conducted at GPS Nokyan ‘B’ with the theme ‘Overall Nutrition’. Anemia Screening Camp was conducted on 27th September 2019 at GHS Noklak village jointly by HFW, Education and SW department. A total of around 300 persons were screened on anemia which included pregnant women, lactating mothers and mostly adolescents.
On Poshan Maah, Home visits and PMMVY registration were also carried out. Health Check-up and Immunization was conducted on 29th September 2019 at Kusong village. A total of 38 children were given routine immunization. Ante Natal and Out-patient check-ups were also done.
VHSND was also organised on 30th September 2019 at Kusong village. The team was led by Dr. Jongkoi, MO CHC Noklak and P. Hemping, Sr. Supervisor ICDS Noklak.

STATE GOVERNMENT WORTH 82 LACS FOR 100 IAS ASPIRANTS TO ALS
Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio has announced scholarship worth 82 lacs for 100 Youth under Chief Minister Corpus Fund creating an opportunity for deserving and talented IAS Aspirants of Nagaland to undergo free of cost coaching from ALS IAS.
ALS IAS which is India’s Largest IAS Coaching Network has more than 75 centers across India including 30 in North East along with 2837 selections in UPSC till date including 154 selections last year. ALS has also been honored with similar sponsorship for IAS Training from Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur in the past.
National Sales Head ALS, Prateek Bhattacharya also announced Scholarship worth 72 lacs for 190 Aspirants under ALS CSR Initiative for Youth of Nagaland. Together this announcement has created an opportunity for 290 IAS aspirants of Nagaland to avail scholarship sponsored by Government of Nagaland and ALS.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the selection of the Top 100 students sponsored under Chief Minister Corpus Fund will be based as per the Reservation Policy of Government of Nagaland. The Scholarship Exam will be conducted on 12th October 2019 in all district Headquarters of the State under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of each district.
Application Forms will be made available from 3rd October in all Deputy Commissioner office with last date of form submission being 10th October. Results of the examination will be generated on 16th October and batches will commence from 21st October.
Students selected will undergo training at any of the six ALS Authorised Learning centers in Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Zuhenboto, Wokha and Mon via cutting edge VSAT Technology where LIVE Transmission of classes being conducted in ALS Delhi campus would be given and students will learn from Best IAS Mentors of the country. Dedicated Academic Mentors from Delhi shall also be sent by ALS to Nagaland to monitor, motivate and guide the students during their training along with monthly visits which will be made by IAS/IPS officers serving in Nagaland to inspire the candidates.
ALS hopes that this path breaking initiative taken by the Chief Minister of Nagaland will be able to transform the youth of Nagaland and produce results in Civil Services in the coming years.

MINISTER V. KASHIHO SANGTAM KICKS OFF MDFA TROPHY 2019
The opening ceremony of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) Trophy 2019 was graced by Minister, Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining, Govt. of Nagaland, V. Kashiho Sangtam today, 1st October 2019 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
The Minister in his speech thanked the organizer for giving platform to the young players of Nagaland to exhibit their talents by organizing the Trophy every year. He also urged all the participating teams to take it as an opportunity to be a part of this tournament where one can learn and also exhibit the spirit of true sportsmanship.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by the Convenor of the Trophy, Moatemsu while MDFA Trophy prelude was presented by Yapangtula and Tiakumla. Altogether 18 teams are participating in the MDFA Trophy 2019.
