            The much needed Urban Primary Health Centre, established under National Urban Health Mission 2014 and approved in 2015 was inaugurated today (20th December 2018) at Yimyu Ward (Above District Jail), Mokokchung by the Principal Director, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, Dr. Vikeyie Losu who was the special invitee of the inaugural programme.

            Speaking on the occasion, the Principal Director said the setting up of the Urban Primary Health Centre was a big step forward for the Health Unit of Mokokchung and said it was a great achievement. He maintained that the aim of having the Urban Primary Health Centre in the town is to improve the health status of the people.

            While appreciating the co-operation and support given by the people, Dr. Vikeyie Losu reiterated that the Urban Primary Health Centre is community based therefore, support of the people is very important for better service of the Medical staff.

            Short speeches were delivered by Vice President, All Ward Union, Mokokchung and Chairman, Yimyu Ward, Mokokchung, report on Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) was given by Dy. Director cum Nodal Officer (NUHM), Dr. Puse Liegise, invocation was said by Pastor, Yimyu Baptist Church, Vote of thanks was proposed by GDMO, UPHC Mokokchung, Dr. Sholongba T Jamir while Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung, Dr. P. Medemmayang chaired the programme.

A meeting with all recognized Political Parties of the state was organized by the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland on 19th December 2018 at Hotel Japfu, Kohima in connection with Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll wef 01.01.2019 as qualifying date.

            Chief Electoral Officer, Abhijit Sinha, IAS shared with Political Parties the various activities being undertaken by the ECI relating to preparation of an authentic and error free electoral rolls which will be used for the coming elections. He also informed that, subject to the approval of the Commission, the final electoral rolls will be published on 10.01.2019. Thereafter, if there are any additions, deletions or corrections to be made in the final electoral rolls, the same will be taken up under the continuous updation exercise by the concerned EROs.

            The CEO also impressed upon all the Political Parties to appoint one Booth Level Agent in each Polling Station to review the Electoral Roll.





            3rd Winter Carnival 2018 was held from 17th to 20th December 2018 at local ground, Peren Town organised by Progressive Peren (P2) which is a community based Tourism Initiative supported by District Administration under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. DC Peren, S.Tainiu NCS graced the inaugural function as special guest and Tsidi Hairang NCS EAC Dimapur as the host.

            The special guest in her address called upon all to jointly work hard with determination so as to bring progress to the district. The stalls put up for the Winter Carnival were inaugurated by the special guest. Progressive Peren (P2) is a conglomeration of NGOs and concerned citizens to better our lives, its people and the surrounding.

            The programme started at 7:30 AM on 17th December 2018 with P2 Half Marathon from Pedi to Peren Town. The function was chaired by Rangro Herie E.S. ZBCC and keynote address was delivered by Er. Asembe Secretary Progressive (P2).  Other highlights included hip hop dance presented by Vibe Crew, Kids Carnival, Food Haat, Zipline Water Zorbing, Bouncy Slides, Fashion Show Exhibition Cum Sale.
