            The Chairman of National Commission for Safai Karamcharis, Government of India, Manhar Valji Bhai Zala launched the ‘Swachhata Abhiyan Programme’ at Kohima main town on 18th February 2020.

            Launching the programme, the Chairman said that the programme was launched in the year 2014 by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi with an objective to bring about an improvement in the general quality of life by promoting cleanliness, hygiene and eliminating open defecation across the country. He therefore requested every citizen to continue in maintaining cleanliness, safety and personal hygiene starting from each individual homes and surrounding, which will make a stronger, healthy and responsible citizen of the city. He also salute the sanitation workers under Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), the Green Team Kohima and all concerned responsible citizens for contributing selfless efforts and services towards cleanliness of the city.

            The Chairman and his team along with Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS and the Administrator KMC & CEO KSCDL, Kovi Meyase led the symbolic cleaning of Kohima town.

            The Kohima Chamber of Commerce and the Green Team Kohima along with the Safai Karamcharis participated in the social work.

            Childline India Foundation, under the ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, held a meeting with Administration department, NGOs, public leaders, church leaders and various other concerned organizations, at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall Zunheboto on 17th February with an aim to set a child helpline service at the district to provide much required protection for children and awareness on children’s rights, in our society.

            Chairing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner, Peter Lichamo expressed gratitude towards the Ministry and the resource person Abhishek Biswas from the concerned organization, for the noble initiation. He also thanked the gathering for positively attending the programme and said this initiative should be properly utilized for the welfare of the children.

            Childline India Foundation, which was established in 1996 as a pilot project under the Ministry of Social Justice and came into full recognition in 2006 under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, provides 24 hrs helpline service to children across the country. The organization also covers 118 train stations and aims to develop at various bus terminuses across the country in the future.

            The resource person deliberated the gathering on the requirements for setting up District Child Protection Unit like, forming an Advisory Board, which would be chaired by DC, minimum requirements for NGOs to partner with the Unit, Structuring and challenges, funding and monitoring, kinds of models etc…

            The meeting culminated with a fruitful interaction of the gathering with the resource person.

            Advisor I&PR, SCERT and Village Guards, Toshi Wungtung will grace the inaugural program of the State Level Workshop on Gender Budgeting for Gender Equality in Rural Areas at Ladies Common room, Meriema campus Nagaland University on 19 February 2020 at 10.30 am.

            The workshop is organized by Nagaland National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, North Eastern Regional Center (NIRD & PR- NERC) in collaboration with the Women’s Studies Center and Department of Education, Nagaland University. The three day workshop is sponsored by Ministry of Women & Child Development Government of India which will began from 19 – 21 February 2020.

            The objective of the workshop is to review the rational role of gender budgeting as a tool for gender equality and also to examine the policy initiatives, programmes, schemes and projects for gender mainstreaming and gender inclusive development in India. It will discuss the tools of gender budgeting at state level and examine the problems, constraints and difficulties in gender budgeting at different level.

            Vice Chancellor NU Prof. Pardeshi Lal will be the guest of honour and key note address will be delivered by Associate Prof NIRD & PR- NERC.

            An assessment camp for Senior citizens and persons with disabilities under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana and ADIP scheme was held on 18th February 2020 at EBRC hall Shamator. The programme was organised by District Administration Tuensang, Department of Social Welfare and Department of Health and Family Welfare in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice and Employment.

            Hundreds of young and old persons with disabilities and senior citizens in and around Shamator and Chessore area came forward for the camp.

            The Finance Department (Revenue Branch) in a notification issued that in exercise of powers conferred by sub section 3 of section 3A of the Nagaland (Sales of Petroleum and Petroleum Products including Motor Spirit and Lubricants) Taxation Act, 1967 (as amended), the Government of Nagaland has notified that the rate of tax as prescribed under Entry Serial Number 3 & 4 of schedule II of the Act shall stand amended as follows:-
