            The Office of the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Kohima has notified that the list of amendments to the draft electoral roll for the 8-Western Angami, 9-Kohima Town, 10-Northern Angami-I, 11-Northern Angami-II, 12-Tseminyu, 14-Southern Angami-I and 15-Southern Angami-II Assembly Constituencies has been prepared with reference to 01.01.2020 as the qualifying date and in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.

            In this connection the public have been informed that a copy of the said roll together with the said amendments has been published and will be available for inspection at the office and with the Booth Level Officer.

            Pughoboto Sub Division Planning and Development Board was conducted under the ADC Pughoboto and SDPDB Vice Chairman T.Moa Lemtor held at DB court on 11th February 2020.

            Since Pughoboto is in the border area, the house decided to request to the government for setting up IRB Post in Ghathashi. The board also agreed to go for more plantation in the Sub division and to write to all village councils to submit the list of names for saplings. The house also invited the Village council to deliberate on ‘Green Pughoboto’ in the next SDPDB meeting.

            The Kiphire District Administration Nagaland has released information regarding Army Recruitment Rally to be held at Dimapur from 1st to 4th April 2020.  The Army Recruitment will be conducted at Bhagat stadium, Rangapahar Military station Dimapur for enrolment of male candidates in soldier General Dury, Soldier Technical, Soldier Tradesmen, Soldier Clark/SKT and Soldier Nursing Assistant Category. It is also stated that the rally will be conducted exclusively for permanent Residential Certificate holders of district from Nagaland.

            Aspiring candidates have been informed to do online registration of application. Without registration and production of Admit Card the Candidates will not be allowed to participate in the rally.

            A State Level Conference on Census of India 2021 and updation of National Population Register was held on the 10th February 2020 at the Conference Hall of Meghalaya Secretariat, Shillong.

            Conrad K Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya addressed the Conference and stressed on the need to strengthen the grass-root level of functionaries to make the exercise a success. The Chief Minister also laid emphasis on Information Education Campaign to create awareness among the general public about the importance of this exercise. Only when the public realises its importance will a correct and accurate data be obtained. The Chief Minister also highlighted the need to dispel any misconceptions about the NPR exercise which is being done simultaneously alongwith the Houselisting Operations of Census. The Chief Minister extended his best wishes for the endeavour.

            Vivek Joshi, Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India addressed the Conference though Video Conferencing from New Delhi and stated that National Population Register was first conducted in 2010 and is being updated along with Houselisting Operations. The RG & CCI also assured that Census data is used only for policy decision making of the Government and that data is released at the aggregate level only and no individual information will be disclosed.

            M.S. Rao, Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya informed that the state will give utmost importance to this exercise. He emphasized that a crucial aspect is to train the enumerators and supervisors who are the key functionaries. The Chief Secretary also informed that a comprehensive IEC will be launched to create mass awareness.

            Dr. Joram Beda, Director of Census Operations gave a detailed presentation about the various aspect of census highlighting that the Census of India is the largest administrative exercise in the world. Financial and technical assistance will be provided by the Central Government to the state for carrying out this operation. The Director dwelt at length on the various questions and concepts related to the census questionnaire.

            Bharati Chanda, Dy Registrar General explained the roles of various census functionaries and the legal provisions under the Census Act, 1948 and Census Rules, 1990 for the conduct of census. She pointed out that this will be the first digital census of the country where data will be collected on smart phones. She also remarked that census data is the foundation of democracy as delimitation of constituencies is done as per census data. She called for cooperation of all stakeholders in the census as no re-census can be done if there is any omission.

Commissioners and other officers of the state government along with officers of the Directorate of Census Operations, Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs attended the Conference.
  2. Lingasamy, Jt. Director of Census Operations thanked all the participants and wished all stakeholders the very best for the upcoming census.



            Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Mon Ilika Zhimomi in a notification has informed that Indian Air Force Airmen recruitment rally will be held at Guwahati, Assam from 16th to 21st February 2020.

            As per the letter received from Wing Commander Ravinder Malik Commanding Officer, 11 Airmen Selection Centre, AF, VIO Chowk, Borjhar Guwahati, the Indian Air Force (IAF) conducts airmen recruitment rallies to offer employment avenues to the educated unemployment youth. These rallies also bring employment opportunity to the door steps of the youth willing to become air warriors and serve the nation with pride.

            The centre for conducting an airman recruitment rally for IAF (Security) trade which starts from 16th to 21st February 2020 at Lake Gate, Air Force Station Borjhar, Guwahati, Assam in which the eligible youth from all the districts of North Eastern States will be eligible to appear.

            The rally will be conducted as per the following schedule;

  1. 16th February 2020; Physical Fitness Test and Written Test for all district of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura (entry permitted from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM)
  2. 17th February 2020; Adaptability test I & II and Dynamic Factor Test (DFT).
  3. 18th February 2020; Reserve day.
  4. 19th February 2020; Physical Fitness and Written test for all district of Manipur.
  5. 20th February 2020; Adaptability test I & II and Dynamic Factor Test (DFT).
  6. 21st February 2020; Reserve day.

            The eligibility conditions are, candidates born between 17th January 2000 and 30th December 2003 and should have passed intermediate/10+2/class – XII or equivalent examination in any stream/subjects approved by centre/state education boards along with other general medical standard norms.
