KOHIMA DPDB RECOMMENDS UPGRADATION OF TSEMINYU SUB-DIVISION TO DISTRICT

The Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) recommended the upgradation of Tseminyu Sub-Division to that of Tseminyu District to the Government for consideration.

This was decided in its monthly DPDB meeting held at the DPDB’s Conference Hall, Kohima on 4th October 2021 under the chairmanship of DPDB Chairman and Advisor for Technical Education and Election, Medo Yhokha.

The House had a marathon deliberation on the agenda where the concerned MLA Advisor, Vety & AH and Women Resources, R. Khing and ADC Tseminyu, W. Manpai Phom NCS highlighted the aspirational of Rengma tribe on the demand for upgradation of Tseminyu sub-division to that of Tseminyu District and the key data records of the sub-division to the House. Other Legislators present in the meeting, Advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire and MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro and also the Vice President of Angami Public Organisation (APO), Neivor Rutsa expressed their support for recommendation of the proposal to the Government during the deliberation.

On the agenda for upgradation of Public Health Centre, Sechü Zubza to Community Health Centre, MLA Nakhro pressed upon the requirement for up-gradation of the existing PHC to CHC as it located in National Highway where medical services with more facilities can be provided in times of emergencies as well as to the area people. The House deliberated on the matter along with the report submitted by CMO Kohima and further decided to recommend the matter to the Government for consideration.

Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman DPDB, Gregory Thejawelie NCS also reminded the Village Adoption Committees to initiate and activate the plan process of the adoption activities by the next DPDB Meeting.

TRAINING PROGRAMME ON WATER QUALITY MONITORING & SURVEILLANCE HELD AT LONGLENG

A one-day training programme on Water Quality Monitoring & Surveillance (WQMS) for Field Testing Kit (FTK) users was held on 2nd October 2021 at Indoor Stadium, Longleng Town. It was organized by the District Water and Sanitation Mission, PHED Longleng and sponsored by Sanitation & WSSO, PHED, Nagaland.

The training programme is envisaged on Jal Jeeven Mission (JJM) prime objective to create a community based water quality Monitoring & Surveillance system at the grass root level to test water quality parameters using FTKs for all water sources by the community itself to enhance awareness of safe drinking water.

Resource person, S. Walling, chemist, PHED Longleng speaking on the topic “Safe Drinking Water to Every Household”, emphasized on the need of water sources to be tested and monitored periodically so as to check the quality of drinking water.

The trainees were also taught on the basic precautionary measures to be followed while collecting water samples from the sources and the steps and procedures to test water quality by FTKs. Later FTKs and Bacteriological vials were distributed to the participants.

The training was attended by about 50 women from 17 villages under Longleng Division.

DPO TUENSANG INFORMS ON TUENSANG DPDB MEETING

District Planning Officer (DPO) & Member – Secretary District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Tuensang, Solumo Ezung has informed that the Tuensang District Planning and Development Board monthly meeting for the month of October, 2021 is scheduled to be held on 7th October, 2021 (Thursday) at 11:00 AM. in the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference hall, Tuensang.

All the DPDB members have been requested to note the date and attend the meeting without failed.

PHEK OBSERVES NATION-WIDE GRAM-SABHA SAMVAD

A nation-wide Gram Sabha Samvad on Jal Jeevan Mission and Gandhi Jayanti was held at Phek on 2nd October, 2021. The Sabha was attended by Village Council Chairman, WATSAN and Swachhagrahis. Altogether, 25 villages under Phek block attended. The Sabha was organized by PHED Phek division.

At Pfutsero, the Sabha was organized by Implementation Support Agency (ISA), Kalos Society, Pfutsero, where a total of 33 villages under Pfutsero block was covered. Altogether, 58 villages under Phek district participated.

The Sabha was chaired by Sanitation and Hygiene Consultant, DWSM, Abigail Ritse. SDO PHED Phek, Er. Imkong Jamir spoke on the objectives of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and said that it was based on community approach towards individual household pipe water connection. He also encouraged the community to contribute 5% towards the mission as per JJM guidelines. He further stressed on the objectives of ODF Plus and elaborated on methods and steps involve in tackling solid and liquid waste management.

District Coordinator, DWSM Phek, Kutulu Vero spoke on Plastic Waste Management, its impact on the environment and human health. She urged the community leaders to put effort to work out ways and means to tackle plastic menace to reduce plastic pollution largely.

The Sabha also witnessed training on Field Testing Kit (FTK) and user mobile application for WATSAN and swachhagrahis by Chemist, DWSM, Kethonu Theyo. The Sabha ended with pledge and signature of the Resolution on ban of Single Use Plastic (SUP) by all the village chairmen.

ELECTION DEPARTMENT INFORMS

Election Department has informed that in pursuance of Section 166 of the R.P. Act 1951, the power conferred to the State Government under Section 160 to 165 of the R.P Act l95l has been delegated to the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Tuensang to act on behalf of the State Government for requisitioning of Vehicles, premises, etc. for the conduct of Bye-Election to 58-Shamator-Chessore (ST) Assembly Constituency, 2021.

Any vehicle, premises etc. belonging to private person or institution/organization shall be entitled for compensation under Sec.l6l of the R.P. Act 1951.

DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES/ILLEGAL CONSTRUCTIONS WITHIN THE RoW PROJECT ‘STRICTLY PROHIBITED’

Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie, NCS, in an order stated that it has come to the notice that developmental activities are being carried out along the RoW of the on-going 4-Lane Project (Kohima District) by some private individuals on the pretext that the 4-Lane constructions are over. However, it is to inform all public and those undertaking developmental activities within the RoW of the 4-Lane Road Project (Kohima District), that any developmental activities or any type of illegal constructions of any structures/ makeshifts etc, within the RoW of the Project is ‘strictly prohibited’.

Therefore, the public have been informed not to undertake any such activities, failing which demolition or eviction will be done without prior information, this is issued for strict compliance.

CULMINATION OF AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV CUM FELICITATION OF SANITATION WORKERS HELD AT PFUTSERO

Culmination cum felicitation of sanitation workers was held at Pfutsero on 2nd October 2021. The programme was held as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, commemorating 75 years of Independence, and was organised by Pfutsero Town Council.

The main activities included in the weeklong programme were felicitation of sanitation workers and mass cleanliness drive across Pfutsero town. The awards and certificates were presented during the programme.

NBSE NOTIFIES ON CSSS

Nagaland Board of School Education has notified that the following steps need to be taken for availing the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme (CSSS) as directed by the Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, NS.I Section, Government of India.

  1. Application for fresh as well as renewal of Scholarship is open from 18/08/2021. For submission of application, go to the portal http://scholarship.gov.in
  2. Aadhaar seeding is mandatory for disbursement of all scholarships.
  3. Every beneficiary needs to have a separate bank account and get their Aadhaar number linked with their bank account number.
  4. Principal/Head of the Institutions must register their institution first in the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) (http://scholarship.gov.in). They are requested to inform their eligible students for CSSS to apply through the NPS portal within the time frame.
  5. The Head of the institution must verify the application of the CSSS beneficiary students (new and renewal) before forwarding to the given portal. The beneficiary students must be advised to submit the application within the stipulated time notified in the portal.
  6. The beneficiary students/applicants in preceding years are directed to check whether their given bank account is still active and Aadhaar linked.
