55 MERITORIOUS STUDENTS AWARDED FOR CMMSF

            The Nagaland Board of School Education organised a programme of Chief Minister’s Meritorious Students Fellowship Award on 31st January, 2020 at Capital Convention Centre, Kohima. The awards were given away to the best 55 students in the top rank of the HSLC Examination.

            Chief Minister, Nephiu Rio said that the presentation of the Meritorious Students Fellowship was to recognize, encourage and motivate the Naga students to grow in today’s world which is becoming highly competitive. Rio also said that every recognition carries responsibilities and he hoped that the students continue to take their education seriously. He further mentioned that as they go for further studies, they should maintain consistency in their studies and performances. He urged the students who are the hope of the future, to have competitive spirit in order to become successful in their lives. Rio asked the students to become assets for their families as well as to the Naga community.

            The Chief Minister’s meritorious Students Fellowship (CMMSF) program has been constituted vide Government from 14th October, 2019. The guidelines regulating the fellowship are:

– The fellowship would be granted to the top scoring 50 individual students in the top rank in order of merit of the HSLC examination conducted by the NBSE, selected on the basis of their rank/marks in the HSLC examination in order of merit.

–  The selected 50 Students must belong to an indigenous Schedule Tribe of Nagaland.

– The number of persons to be awarded the CMMSF will vary in case of more than one person in one rank or place.

– Fellowship to be granted to the meritorious students shall be made on Annual/yearly basis.

– A citation along with cash award shall be given in the first year of grant of the fellowship.

– The grant of CMMSF shall be awarded for 5 years. To achieve the desired objective of CMMSF, the annual academic performance of the 50 awarded students shall be continuously monitored. To continue to avail the fellowship, the students should continue to score not less than 80% marks in the promotion/annual/semester examination in the succeeding classes/grades every year. Non -fulfillment of the criteria will lead to the discontinuation of the grant of CMMSF.

            Advisor School Education, K.T Sukhalu in his brief speech said that Nagas need young boys and girls to contribute to our society and the award is one small contribution by the state government to encourage the youths to give an extra push. He said that the fellowship is also to create awareness to parents across the state to pay attention for the child’s education. He also pointed out that getting a degree is not the only thing to build ones personality but the methods that we learn in our schools and colleges sharpens an individual’s character.

            The programme highlights included welcome address by Principal Secretary, School Education & SCERT, Menukhol John; special song by Rouvilhou Kense, Northfield School, kohima; speeches by awardees Niephreno Iralu, G.Rio School, Kohima and Emjungwapang Amer, Mezhür Hr. Sec. School, Kohima.

DC WOKHA NOTIFIES ON UPLOADING OF ARMS LICENSE (NDAL)

            Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Orenthung Lotha informs all concerned that Arms License holders under Wokha District that the date for uploading details of Arms License in the National Database of Arms License (NDAL) and generation of UIN has been extended till 29th June 2020, Therefore all Arms License holders who are yet to register their License in the NDAL Portal are informed to collect the form from the office of the Deputy Commissioner Wokha and submit it before the 31st of May 2020 for early generation of their UIN . The Arms Licenses without UIN after the dateline shall become invalid.

HSLC & HSSLC EXAMINATIONS COMMITTEE MEETING TO BE HELD

            A meeting regarding the conduct of HSLC & HSSLC Examinations, 2020 has been convened on 4th February 2020 at 11:00 A.M in the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Kohima.

            In this regard, DC Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS has requested all concerned members of the Examination Committee to make it convenient to attend the meeting without fail.

ENCSU CONFERENCE CUM SPORTS MEET CLOSING PROGRAM

            The closing program of ENCSU conference cum sports meet was held at public local ground, Longleng on 30th January 2020 with M Shayung Phom, Deputy Commissioner Longleng as special guest.

            Phom in his speech encouraged the congregation to take responsibilities to complete undone and urged the youngsters to be conversant with the mother tongue. The Eastern districts are very much rich in minerals, he said stating that the people of the area can be equally productive like any other in the state.

            Atopu Sumi, Addl S.P Longleng said that sports is beneficial not only for the individual’s mental and physical health but also help in developing team work, discipline and competitive spirit.

            Dimapur unit emerged as over all champion of the sports meet. The closing program was chaired by M.Y. Chusa Chang -Dy. Speaker ENCSU and Akham Lims -Vice President ENCS. Special song was presented by Loyem Degree Memorial College Tuensang, welcome address was given by K. Chumseli Aner, Asst-General Secretary. Vote of thanks was delivered by Shou K, games and sports secretary ENCSU.

TRAINING ON SOIL TESTING KIT UNDERWAY AT KOHIMA

            A two day training program on “soil testing kit (digital mini-lab-Pusa STFR)” is underway at State Soil Testing Laboratory, Directorate of Soil & Water Conservation, Kohima.

            In his keynote address, K. Khekiho Shohe, Joint Director, stated that the Government of India is having keen interest on soil health and its management for economic development. For which, soil health management scheme under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) is being implemented throughout the country. One such of the programme in the state is to be implemented by the department where the soil samples of the entire state will be collected, analyzed and rendered with prescriptions to enable the farmers and stake-holders to know their soil fertility status during agriculture crop production. He encouraged the trainees to participate with keen interest and learn on how to analyze soil samples accurately at the field levels using a friendly and portable instrument called Digital Mini-Lab-PUSA STFR that has the capacity to analyse seven samples in a day comprising of both macro and micro nutrients and other soil physical properties.

            Lipokmar Yaden, Deputy Director chaired the chairperson. Altogether 38 officers and staff from all the districts is attending the training.

BANNED PLASTIC ITEMS CHECKING AT DIMAPUR

            The Dimapur district Task Force conducted checking of banned plastic items on 30th January 2020 at New Market, Nyamo Lotha Road and Murgipatti areas of Dimapur. During the surprise checking drive, the DTF team seized a huge amount of banned plastic items and also imposed fine on the defaulting shopkeepers/ traders. The seized items were handed over to DMC for disposal. The team further informed that during the next phase, the trade licences of the defaulters would be cancelled.

            The District Task Force also cautioned that during the next drive water bottles below 500 ml will also be seized and repeated defaulters may also be liable for imprisonment.

            The selection test for admission into State Sports Academy, Dimapur in the following disciplines will be held accordingly as mentioned below:

The application along with attested copy of Birth Certificate for proof of age, entry fee of Rs.100/-, Aadhaar card and 2 (two) copies of latest passport size photo should reach the above mentioned Office on or before the mention dates.
