            The Kohima District Planning and Development Board meeting for the month of April was held at DPDB’s conference Hall on 22nd April 2019.

            Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman DPDB Kohima, Anoop Khinchi IAS chairing the meeting thanked all the members for their efforts and cooperation extended in the successful conduct of the last Lok Sabha Election 2019.

            While reviewing the last meeting minutes, the house decided and fixed the last date for submission of Adoption Committee reports on 15th May 2019. In this regard ADC Kohima Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa who is also the Convenor of the Core Committee informed that the report would not be accepted after the fixed date. On the agenda of registration of societies, the Committee Convenor, SDO Shaying Sheu informed the house that the Committee had found out some anomalies in some applicants where the Committee had submitted their report to DPO with some proposed additional criteria to be included for approval. In this connection, DC suggested to check the proposed additional criteria whether it was under the preview of the Registration Act and further decided to take up the matter in the next DPDB meeting.

            During the meeting DIC Kohima General Manager, A.Temjen Jamir gave an overview of his department’s activities and action plan for 2019, where he stated that the DIC Kohima functions as a single window interacting agency at the district level by providing service and support to small entrepreneurs. He highlighted on various schemes under the State Incentive Schemes and North East Industrial Development Scheme (NEIDS) implemented by the department. He also highlighted on the other activities carried out by the DIC Kohima at the grass-root level some of which included bee-keeping farm at Viswema, stenography training under Rural Artisan Program (RAP), Prime Minister Employment Generation Program (PMEGP), R. Soma Handicraft Cluster-CFC etc.

            In pursuance to the direction given during the State Level Pre-Monsoon Preparedness meeting at Kohima on 16th April 2019, chaired by the Chief Secretary, Nagaland, a District Level Pre-Monsoon Preparedness meeting is being convened on 25th April 2019 at 2:30 pm at the Conference Hall of ADC (Planning) Mokokchung to discuss Preparedness activities and also the State Wide Mass Social Work.

            In this connection, Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Rajesh Soundararajan has informed all the Head of Offices of Mokokchung to attend the meeting without fail.

            A programme on Community Sensitization on the Harmful effects of Plastics use and one day Training on  Paper bag making is scheduled to be held  at the Town Hall Medziphema Town, Government Higher Secondary School compound on the 30th April 2019 at 10 am,  organized by Atsi & Co  in collaboration with CAN YOUTH Dimapur. The programme aims at making the community aware on the harmful effects of plastic usage which is creating health hazards and destroying the environment. The sensitization programme will also include training on paper bag making to selected women to help reduce plastics use.

            The organizers request schools, Churches, community leaders, Civil Societies, Youth organizations, Students union and other stake holders to come and attend the Sensitization program.

            Synergy Sensitization program on AIDS and Drugs, organized by DEF Tuensang-Kripa Foundation-IDS was held at Tuensang on 16th April 2019. The progamme aimed at containing high prevalence of HIV-AIDS and abuse of drugs.

            Brigadier S.K Sheoran 7 Sec HQ AR, who was the Special Guest gave a clarion to the participants to worship one’s own body and called upon the parents to give adequate time towards their children and help them to stay away from harmful habits.

            Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Mohammed Ali Shihab, SP Tuensang, Bharat Laxman Markad, CKS President, Nungsanglemba and ENWO Vice President Asang who addressed the gathering appealed to the participants to work together to ensure that the menaces of HIV-AIDS and drug abuses are checked.

            Abou, Director Kripa foundation spoke on HIV Act 2017, OST treatment and NDPS act. People from DEF, 12th IR, 3rd NAP, 164th NAGA TA, school and college student and teachers, driver associations, students union, Administration, NGO’s, CMO office and others attended the program.
