LAUNCHING OF PRADHAN MANTRI KISAN MAANDHAN YOJANA (PM- KMY)

            Minister for Agriculture, G. Aye launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PM-KMY) Scheme, along with the Nation, on 12th September 2019 at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Agriculture.

            While launching the PM-KMY, Minister Kaito Aye said that Nagaland has about 1,95,784 farmers registered under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, and that these farmers may opt for the PM-KMY scheme also. He further said that this scheme will benefit the State farmers when they grow old, but it will also encourage and boost them morally to work harder when they are young and active, which will in turn, boost the state’s agricultural sector. He urged the departments work sincerely in registering the farmers of the State. He also mentioned that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was launching this programme at Ranchi on the same day.

            In her short speech, Principal Secretary & APC, N. Hushili Sema, IAS said that this scheme is a very important scheme for small and marginal farmers which will sustain them at their old age. She asked the people working in the Department to make it their duty to not only sustain the farmers, but also to aggressively pursue monitoring the district, sub-district, and village level blocks for sensitizing, and for wide publicity in order to encourage the famers. She also mentioned that this scheme will benefit the cultivators in the village in the long run.

            Hushili Sema thanked and appreciated the Ministry for bringing this intervention for the farmers. She asked the departments to transparently pursue this scheme and to ensure visibility, so as to achieve the highest potential which will help in the growth of the Department as well as the agricultural sector of the State. Quality performance is essential for the advancement of the State, she added.

            In his welcome address, Additional Director, S. Kivikhu Achumi said that the Government of India (GOI) launched this scheme since 9th August 2019. He also said that the State Government has conducted sensitization programme and the Department has initiated camping and melas at the district and sub-division levels for awareness of the scheme. The registration of beneficiaries will begin as soon as the Central Government sends the details of the internet portal for the Scheme.

            State Nodal Officer, PM-KMY, L. Hangshing mentioned that the status of PM-KMY is an age old pension scheme introduced by GoI for all small and marginal farmers in the country as a voluntary and contributory pension scheme for the entry age group of 18-40 years. The objective and benefits of this scheme is to create a social security for the farmers during old age. He also added that the subscriber/farmer will get an assured monthly pension of Rs. 3000 on attaining the age of 60 years. Some of the key features of this scheme are: this scheme is launched in partnership with Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), which will be the Pension Fund manager and responsible for pension pay out, it is a voluntary and periodic contribution and can opt for contribution from the financial benefits received by them from the PM-Kisan Scheme, the Ministry shall contribute an equal amount as contributed by the eligible subscriber, etc.

            The programme was chaired by Director of Agriculture, M. Ben Yanthan.

PHEK DPDB MEETING HELD

            The District Planning Development Board meeting (DPDB) Phek, was held on 12th September 2019 at its conference hall with Minister for Planning & Co-ordination, Neiba Kronu.         Registration of Chiiketshe society was discuss and approved. Regarding chopper service at Chozuba was also discussed and approved for consideration. Adoption of LADP fund finalization was also approved in the meeting. Agriculture department gave their departmental activities in slide shows.

            Kronu said the government is givig top priority on road and power development because almost all developmental activities are taking place through this facility. He also said that coffee plantation and bee keeping are very important activities as it can boost our economy.    Chotisu Sazo MLA & Yitachu MLA attended the meeting and gave a short speeches and appreciated the officers for tirelessly working for the district.

SEMINAR ON RASHTRIYA POSHAN ABHIYAN HELD IN DIMAPUR

            A Poshan Seminar on Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyan organised by department of Social Welfare, Dimapur District in convergence with Health & Family Welfare  and PHED was held at AWTC, Complex, Diphupar, Dimapur on 12th September 2019.

            Medical Officer, Dr. Michelle; Sanitation & Hygiene Consultant,  PHED, Imojungla Longkumer and District Coordinator, Poshan Abhiyaan, Limasenla Walling were the resource persons.

            Dr. Michelle who spoke on health and nutrition highlighted the importance of nutrition for pregnant mothers, lactating mothers and adolescent girls and importance of calories, protein, folic acid, iron, calcium, iodine and its sources. She also explained in detail about the importance of breastfeeding and vaccination.

            Imojungla Longkumer who presented a topic on Basic Sanitation and Health Practices highlighted the importance of safe drinking water, safe disposal of liquid and solid waste and management, safe water source and personal hygiene.

            Limasenla Walling who gave a PowerPoint presentation about Poshan Abhiyan stated that the Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing the program which has number of schemes directly or indirectly affecting the nutritional status of children from 0-6 years of age, pregnant mothers, lactating mothers, and adolescent girls. She said that the Mission targets to reduce stunting, under-nutrition, anaemia among young children, adolescents and women.

            The programme was chaired by DPO Dimapur, Hutoi Sema. The seminar was attended by trainees of Anganwadi workers and officials from line departments.

CELEBRATION OF RASHTRIYA POSHAN MAAH AT MEDZIPHEMA

            As part of the Poshan Abhiyan the Block Convergence Plan for Committee (BCPC) in collaboration with Medziphema District Administration organised a programme for adolescents and Essay writing and Quiz competition for school girls on 12th September 2019 at town hall, Medziphema.

            CDPO Tsungrosongla in her key note address gave an over view and main aims of Rashtriya Poshan Maah, she explained the problems of malnutrition in targeted groups like children from 0-6 years of age , adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating mothers and how to eradicate malnutrition in the right way for health and nutrition.

            Guest Speaker Dr. Moakhala Changkiri Scientist SASRD(NU) motivated and sensitised the girls of importance of nutrition through a practical activity, the consequences of consuming unhealthy diet which resulted in unhealthy body like obesity, osteoporosis, Anemia, PMS, etc. She also emphasized on maintaining hygiene tips and briefed the school girls on the importance of healthy food and key nutritional behaviours. She also actively address the awareness and importance of menstrual hygiene & sanitation.

            The Quiz competition on health nutrition was conducted by EAC Sentilong Ozukum. Altogether 5 (Five) Schools participated in the Quiz and essay competition where SFS bagged the 1st- position, 2nd- CBMS School, 3rd- King David School. In the essay competition: 1st- SFS School, 2nd- SFS School and 3rd- Rivenburg School. Winners & participants were awarded with prize money and certificates.

MEETING ON WASTE MANAGEMENT POLICY HELD AT KOHIMA

            A meeting of the Kohima District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) for implementation of Nagaland Integrated Waste Management Policy 2019 was held at the office chamber of Deputy Commissioner, Kohima on 11th September 2019.

            Chairing the meeting, DC, Gregory Thejawelie stated that the committee was constituted to evaluate and monitor the implementation of waste management in the district. He, therefore, urged all the members to take this venture seriously and create awareness in respective areas for the successful implementation of the policy in the district. DC also highlighted the Rule 22 of Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rule 2016 where time frame for implementation by local bodies and other concerned authority in Nagaland has to be followed.

            The meeting had a lengthy discussion on various issues pertaining to waste management where the members from Kohima Municipal Council, Green Team Kohima, Rengma Hoho and others shared their views and suggestions basing on their experiences to be incorporated in the action plan for implementation of the policy in the district. The meeting also highlighted on various issues and decided to take up identified place for collection of re-useable waste in all the 19 wards, starting with PWD and New Market Colonies on pilot basis and to conduct awareness programme and sensitize the people in the rural areas.

            Members from KMC, Office Secretary, Zakiekhotuo Kiso and DFO Rongsenlemla Imchen highlighted their activities taken up in regard to segregation of waste and waste management. Kekhrienuo M. Meyase from Green Team Kohima also highlighted their various programme on segregation of waste, waste management and to reduce waste conducted at different wards, colleges and schools.

WORKSHOP TO PROMOTE HOMESTAY HELD AT MON

            The District Administration, Mon organised a workshop on 11th September 2019 at DC conference Hall, Mon in collaboration with Airbnb which is an online travelling agency which does listing of homes and spaces for rental. ADC Mon, Hiazu Meru delivered the welcome address.

            The workshop was conducted by Christina, Trainer for North East India, Airbnb. The workshop was organised with an aim to promote the existing home stay, guest house and hotel owners to help them improve and expand their business strategies. The workshop was also made open to young, unemployed youths and potential home stay entrepreneurs in order to encourage innovative ways of revenue generation as well in promoting tourism in the area. The participants were not only introduced to Airbnb but were also given inputs on critical requirements to ensure guest satisfaction for home stays.

            A  Practical demonstration of a listing creation on Airbnb was also done. A total number of 61 participants attended the workshop.

SWACHHTA HI SEWA LAUNCHED AT TSEMINYU

            National animal disease programme and celebration of Swachhta Hi Sewa was launched on 11th September 2019 at KVK conference hall with ADC Tseminyu, Nokchasashi as the special guest. He said the government is doing its best to uplift the farmers by taking up many schemes and appealed to the farmers to utilize them in a proper and transparent way. He also appealed to the beneficiaries to have a positive mindset on the schemes provided by the government. Senior Scientist, Dr. V. Akashe Zhimomi released technology resources for farmers. Distribution of STRY certificates was follow by vote of thanks from ACTO Plan Protection, K Michael Pienyu. In technical session Dr. Gwatthonlo Tsela VAS, AH&V shared awareness of foot and mouth diseases and brucellosis. Zhiete, ACTO Soil Conservation highlighted on Swachhta Hi Seva.

            Additional Deputy Commissioner and Electoral Registration Officer, Mokokchung, W. Manpai Phom has informed all the ward authorities and electors in Mokokchung town that a special drive on self-verification and authentication in the electoral roll under Elector Verification programme will be conducted. Ward authorities have been asked to co-operate and also inform all registered electors/voters in their respective wards to personally come along with epic number details and any of the following documents: ration card, passport, bank passbook, aadhar card, farmer identity card, I card issued to government/service staff, driving license, pan card, 10th or 12th mark sheet, electricity/water/telephone bill, RGI-NPR Card.

DISTRICT LEVEL SEMINAR FOR CHAIRMEN OF VILLAGE COUNCILS

            SDO (C) Sardar, Mokokchung, Thungchabemo Tungoe has informed all the Village Councils of Mokokchung district that the Nagaland Community Conserved Area Forum (NCCAF) will be organizing a District Level Seminar on “Conserving Biodiversity and Threatened Species in Community Conserved Area” on 20th Sept.2019 from 10:00 AM at the Auditorium, Mayangnokcha Govt. Higher Secondary School.

ALL GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS DIRECTED TO OBTAIN LAND PATTA

            Land Revenue Department, in an office memorandum, has stated that it had come to the notice of the Government, that during the past few years, instances of encroachment of lands held by various Government Departments/Agencies have been increasing resulting in considerable loss of Government land.

            Further, numerous instructions have been issued from time to time for proper management, maintenance and security of Government lands held by various Government Departments/Agencies in the State.

            Therefore, it has directed that all Government Departments/Agencies in possession of land to obtain Land Patta within a period of 6 (six) month of issue of this Office Memorandum along with a copy of countersigned Survey Map which should be held in the records of the Department/Agency.

            Moreover, Government Departments/Agencies should secure lands from possible encroachment by way of construction of security fencing/boundary walls.

            The adherence to instructions contained in the Office Memorandum will be reviewed after lapse of the stipulated period.

TRAINING HELD ON CULTIVATION PRACTICES OF WINTER CROPS

            ATMA Kohima district conducted State Farmers Training on cultivation practices of winter crops on 12th September 2019 at DAO conference hall.

            The resource person for the training was Mhathung, Horticulture Inspector. He shared about the nursery bed preparation, advantages of nursery bed for winter crops, transplantation and weed management till harvest.

  1. Imti Tzudir, DAO & PD (ATMA), Kohima in his keynote address encouraged the farmers to promote organic farming and kitchen gardening.

            The programme was followed by distribution of seed and agri. tools. Earlier the programme was chaired by Rokoshuno Angela, Dy. PD (ATMA), Kohima. FSGs from 7 Blocks under ATMA Kohima district participated in the training programme.
