BRIEFING ON COVID-19 ON 8th JULY 2020 FOR NAGALAND BY PRINCIPAL SECRETARY, HOME
The full text is as follows:
“As on today, the total number of positive cases in the State stands at 657. All the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals and COVID-19 Care Centres. Further, active surveillance and contact tracing is in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection.
Out of the 657 positive cases, the total active cases are 353, and 304 have recovered. As per the severity of symptoms, 350 active cases are asymptomatic and 2 active cases are mild and 1 case is moderate.
Till date, a total of 14,213 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR. Results of 13, 925 samples have been received. Out of the 14,213 samples, 9, 384 samples have been received at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) and a total of 9,090 samples have been tested, out of which 464 samples have tested positive.
In addition a total of 8,294 samples have been sent for testing on Truenat. 7,830 samples have tested negative, and 219 samples have tested positive which have been sent for confirmation by RT-PCR.
A total of 3,483 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine.
A Special Train which originated from Bengaluru, Karnataka on 6th of July 2020 carrying about 330 stranded persons of Nagaland in expected to reach Dimapur tomorrow in the morning.”
- CM DONATES RELIEF FOR HIS CONSTITUENCY PEOPLE & PA EQUIPMENTS TO DPRO OFFICE WOKHA
In his continuous effort to help the needy people during this pandemic crisis, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister In-charge for Home & R&B, Y.Patton today the 8th July 2020 distributed 530 bags of rice for his constituency people which consists of around 21 villages
(37 Tiyi AC) residing in Wokha town.
Patton in his short interaction with the media people at his residence at Wokha during the distribution of free ration said, after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis he has
been assisting with essential commodities for the last three for his constituency people,
where he also added today also he is distributed 530 bags of rice for the daily wage earners,
which will benefit around 530 household for his constituency people who are residing in Wokha Town. He also appealed all section of the society to maintain social distancing and other guidelines in fighting the pandemic crisis.
The Deputy Chief Minister from his end donated Sound system/PA equipments including Amplifier two numbers, Horn and Driver Unit 4 numbers each, and Microphone 2 numbers which was received by the Information Assistant, DPRO Office Wokha. The Officers and staff of DPRO office Wokha expressed profound gratitude to Patton for his generous contribution towards the department.
Rev. Achumo Kithan offered dedicatory prayer before handing over the relief material to the beneficiaries.

SCHOOL EDUCATION DEPT NOTIFIES ON BROADCAST OF VIDEO/AUDIO LESSONS
Principal Director School Education, Shanavas C, IAS has notified for the information of all concerned that the Phase II broadcast of Video and Audio lessons for classes VIII to XII through Doordarshan, Kohima, All India Radio, Kohima, Youtube Channel (DoSE Nagaland) and Facebook (School Education, Nagaland) will be carried out from 11th to 30th July 2020 as per the schedule given in Annexure I & II which is available in the Dept Facebook Page. All concerned have been requested to take note that the sign language interpretation has been incorporated in the current video broadcast for the benefit of children with disabilities.
It was observed during the previous phases of the broadcast that enough efforts were not made by a section of the District/Sub Divisional Educational authorities and School Heads to ensure that the benefits of the programme reaches all sections of students across the State. Therefore, Heads of all Govt. Schools have been hereby directed to ensure that parents of all students studying in their school are sensitized about the various modes of broadcast made viz, Doordarshan, Youtube, Facebook and All India Radio so that they could access the broadcast as per their convenience.
Further, Heads of all Govt. Schools have been directed to effectively utilize all kinds of resources available at schools and ensure that the benefits of the broadcast reach all sections of the society. School Heads should ensure that all teachers remain in their respective place of posting and their services are utilized to supplement the Tele/Radio Online Education programme. Data of students accessing the various modes of the broadcast should be maintained and furnished as and when asked for.
DC KOHIMA ISSUES ORDER ON CONTAINMENT ZONES
Deputy Commissioner Kohima Gregory Thejawelie NCS has informed that in view of the detection of a COVID-19 positive person residing at Daklane colony Kohima, Municipal Ward No. -7 and Kezieke colony Kohima, Municipal Ward No. -3, the areas defined below are demarcated as Containment zone in order to contain the spread of the disease/infection and for necessary contact tracing. All movement of person/vehicles within the defined Containment Zones/areas are strictly restricted/prohibited and under active surveillance.

TUENSANG DTF FOR COVID-19 HELD MEETING
The meeting of the Tuensang District Task Force (DTF) for COVID-19 was held on 8th July 2020 in the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant IAS, who briefed the house on the BSL-2 laboratory which is currently being set up at the COVID-19 Hospital, Tuensang. The Deputy Commissioner apprised the House on the need to hasten the completion of the BSL-2 laboratory. The House deliberated on the issue of 1 (one) BSL – 2 Laboratory technician who was tested positive for COVID-19 on 7th July 2020. The technician is currently admitted to COVID CARE CENTRE, Tuensang for isolation and all his contacts have been quarantine and further test are ongoing.
The house discussed the fire at Loyem ground on 6th July 2020 which burned some traditional morungs being used as kitchen to prepare food for the quarantine centres. The house agreed to reconstruction the morungs at the earliest.
The house also agreed to strengthen awareness campaign on COVID-19 in the wards/colonies to spread safe practices such as wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining social distancing and also to spread awareness against discrimination/harassment of front line workers and returnees.

DC DIMAPUR WARNS VEGETABLE WHOLESALE TRADERS
Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Anoop Kinchi IAS visited the vegetable/ fruit wholesale market at Murgipatti this morning 8th July 2020, to oversee whether the guidelines to contain Corona virus are practiced.
The DC warned the wholesale traders that there would be no option but to close down the market again if the people do not maintain discipline and asked them to choose the option. He reminded that vegetable wholesale market was shifted to super market for some time due to convenience of availability of space for trade and also parking, however since the traders expressed inconvenience due to want of shed and other logistics it was again shifted to the original market at Murgipatti. Therefore, Kinchi directed the whole sellers to ensure that all their labourers and customers wear masks covering the nose and mouth, maintain social distance and to practice hand hygiene. He further asked them to keep soap and water for washing hands. DC also directed them for keeping more barricades for ensuring social distancing. He also advised the GB and DMC to keep on announcing and reminding every morning to the business community of Murgipatti about the safety protocols to be maintained by each individual through megaphone and assured to arrange the same from his end. Kinchi further informed that he would come for surprise checking any day and cautioned that the market would be closed down if precautions are not taken.
DC was accompanied by DPRO Dimapur along with her announcement team who makes announcement in strategic locations, GB and his team from Murgipatti and Ganesh from DMC.
TASK FORCE FOR ENFORCEMENT OF SAFETY PROTOCOLS AT PFUTSERO
Additional Deputy Commissioner Pfutsero, Phuleshe K. Yepthomi constituted a task force for enforcement of safety protocols including social distancing at Pfutsero Town with immediate effect.

The Task Force is authorized to impose a fine amounting to ₹100/-(One hundred) against any individual Owners of shops and establishments frequented by public for violation of the following with immediate effect from the date of issue of this notice.
- Wearing of face cover/mask in all public places/work places etc.
- Social distancing as per the guidelines of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
- Spitting in public places.
- Provision of hand washing or Hand Sanitizer in all shops/Commercial establishments etc. Further, the license of any shop which do not arrange facilities for provision of hand washing or hand sanitizers shall be suspended for a period of one month on repeated violation.
Report on the enforcement is to be submitted to ADC Pfutsero daily by 4:00 PM. All Colony Chairman and GBs have been directed to inform all the citizens within their respective jurisdiction to use face mask when in public places and maintain social distancing.

DC ZUNHEBOTO NOTIFIES
The Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto Peter Lichamo notified that in continuation with the previous orders, circulars and notifications with regards to use of masks and hand sanitizer, face masks are to be worn by everyone at all times, and crowding of people to be avoided while in public places, all shops and business establishments are to mandatorily provide hand sanitizers and washing facilities to all its customers/visitors in respect of which Superintendent of Police Zunheboto, Administrator ZTC and ZCCI have been directed to ensure strict implementation and take appropriate action upon the defaulters.
DC LONGLENG BANS IMPORT OF PIGS
In view of the outbreak of ‘African Swine fever’ in the neighbouring states, the Deputy Commissioner Longleng has banned imports of pigs to Longleng district from outside the states with immediate effect.
Defaulters shall be liable for punishment under section – 188 of the Indian Penal Court and also under relevant sections of the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act 2009
ADMINISTRATOR LTC INFORMS
Addl. Deputy Commissioner & Administrator, Longleng Town Council has issued an order reiterating the Prohibition of Employment of Manual Scavengers for cleaning of severs and septic tanks with immediate effect as per the Prohibition of Employment of Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Rules 2013.
Therefore, the contractors have been further directed to ensure strict compliance to the provisions and Rehabilitation of Employment of Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Rules 2013.
Timely inspection shall be carried out in this regard and defaulters penalized as per relevant provisions of law the order stated.
22 RETURNEES REACHES TENING SUB DIVISION
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rhosietho Nguori, NCS had informed 22 returnees had reached Tening Sub Division due to COVID- 19 pandemic on 7th July 2020
The returnees included seven females and 15 males, 18 from Chennai, three from Delhi and one from Rajasthan.
