RIO UNVEILS FOUNDATION STONE FOR MUSIC & FINE ARTS COLLEGE
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on 7th September 2020 unveiled the foundation stone of the Professional College of Music and Fine Arts at Tsiesema, Kohima.
Speaking at the occasion, Rio congratulated the Department of Higher and Technical Education for successfully bringing many projects into the State. He also extended a special appreciation to Minister of Higher and Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along under whose young and dynamic leadership the Department has been able to achieve many great things.
Rio stated that the vision and dream of the Government was to give quality education to the youth and through the unveiling of the foundation stone a step ahead towards providing quality education in the field of music and fine arts has been achieved. He stated that the college will be a blessing for the youths of Nagaland and Northeast particularly and India as a whole.
Rio stressed on the importance of having a certificate of degree or diploma in any particular field and hence he expressed with delight that in the future, through the college Nagaland would have many certified artists which would further boost tourism in the State. “The Land of Festivals will become the real Land of Festivals”, he added.
The CM thanked the villagers of Tsiesema for parting with the land and ensured them that their kind act would benefit thousands of youth from the State and the country. He further appealed to them to give full support and cooperation to the Department in the days ahead.
Rio also appealed to the concerned Department to make it a quality college with top facilities and expressed desire for it to have indigenous Naga designs so as to also be a tourist attraction for the State. He concluded his speech by urging all the stakeholders in the project to ensure its timely completion.
Minister, H&TE and Tribal Affairs Temjen Imna Along in his brief speech stated that he on behalf of the department is grateful to the Villagers and the village council of Tsiesema for their cooperation and support and offering the land for the college at a very low cost.
He mentioned, this gesture towards the Government is for the sake of thousands and lakhs of people who will come and pursue their excellence in this professional college and become emerging stars in the future of our state and of our people throughout the world with their talents in music and fine arts.
Imna Along briefed on the centrally sponsored scheme ‘Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyana’ (RUSA), under which ‘RUSA 2.0’ the department had achieved to bring forth the project of Professional College of Music and Fine Arts in Tsiesema at Kohima and assured that many more professional and model college are being proposed for different districts. He added that with the success of RUSA 1.0 and this Professional College of Music and Fine Arts project being the last project under RUSA 2.0 the Government of India will be counting Nagaland as one of the only states in the north-east that has successfully implemented RUSA 2.0.
Addressing the gathering, Chairperson of the event Commissioner and Secretary H&T. Ed Imjung M Panger IAS, informed the project was undertaken through RUSA with a campus area of 9.5 acres having Administrative Block, Academic Block, Recording Studio, Performance Hall, Library and so on. He informed that the college would be providing advance diploma and undergraduate courses in Music, Sound Engineering, Fine Arts, Painting & Drawing and Digital Art. The project is expected to be completed by 2023, he stated.
A brief speech on behalf of Tsiesema Village was given by Chairman Village Council Tsiesema Pasa Krozu Mere while the dedicatory prayer was delivered by Pastor Tseisema Baptist Church Keneingulie Mere.
The event was also graced by the presence of other Ministers and Advisors of the State.

DC PEREN REMINDS OFFICE HEADS TO WORK OUT ROSTER SYSTEM
The monthly Peren District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held on 7th September, 2020 at DC’s Conference Hall, District Hq. Peren under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Peren, Sentiwapang Aier.
In the meeting, DC Peren directed all the HoDs to conduct social work in their respective Office premises and also reminded all heads to work out a roster system where 50 percent of the staff attend Office every alternate week as per the new guidelines on lockdown issued by the Chief Secretary Government of Nagaland. Surprise checking from the side of District Administration will also be carried out time to time, DC added.
Dy. CMO Peren, Dr. Lanuakum highlighted the present figure of COVID-19 in the district, where in he mentioned that so far a total of 2085 returnees has entered the district, out of which 271 are confirmed COVID Postive and at present, 2 active cases are kept at designated COVID Hospital, CHC Jalukie.
Considering the education system of the students as the topmost priority, Additional District Education Officer (ADEO) Peren also apprised the board members about the inconveniences faced by the school students in attending online classes. In regard to this, the DC said that a meeting with the service providers will be convene at the earliest.
Discussion in connection to two-lanning of NH-129 A was also held in the meeting.

PROGRAM ON POSHAN MAAH HELD AT NOKLAK
In view of the September month which is to be celebrated as ‘National Nutrition Month’ across India, ICDS Noklak Project under the Department of Social Welfare conducted a short programme on 7th September 2020 at CDPO Office, Noklak under the theme ‘Complementary Feeding’.
Speaking on the programme, Senior Supervisor P.Hemping of CDPO office Noklak said that, the proposed of celebrating the Rashtriya Poshan Maah is to take the message of nutrition to every nook and corner of the country. Poshan Abhiyaan is a multi-ministerial convergence mission with a vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022 which is a PM’s overarching scheme for Holistic nourishment, he added.
Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan aims to ensure holistic development and adequate nutrition for the children in the Age group 0-6 years, pregnant women and Lactating mothers and Adolescent girls. Malnutrition effect on all sections of the society both poor and the fluent families due to lack of awareness and its objectives are to achieve improvement in the nutritional status of the targeted groups. The month long campaign will be culminated on 30th September 2020, he added.
The programme was attended by Anganwadi workers of Noklak Project and from Civil Societies.

PEREN OBSERVES POSHAN MAAH 2020
A short launching program of POSHAN MAAH 2020 was observed on 7th September 2020 at DC conference Hall, District headquarter, New Peren, along with the line department of PHE Department, Medical Department, RD Dept., Education Department & Administration. The program was organised by the Department of Social Welfare, Peren.
The launching program was chaired by Dy. Director Nokcharenla, DPO Peren who briefed about the activities and programs to be taken up in the month at various level in the district and urged all the line department for coordination and active participation.
Deputy Commissioner, Peren Sentiwapang Aier (NCS) also said that it is a good program initiated by the Prime Minister of India to prevent existing malnutrition in India and to identify any prevailing cases in the District and urged the Nodal Department to identify the indicators to progress and work where more approach is needed. He also apprised the line department to work and coordinate for the welfare of the district during the monthly observation of POSHAN MAAH.
The launching of POSHAN MAAH was initiated by reading out the Poshan pledge while vote of thanks was delivered by CDPO Jalukie, Namhuheing.

POSHAN MAAH LAUNCHED AT MEDZIPHEMA
The month long celebration of Poshan Maah from 1st September – 30th September 2020 was launched at the Conference Hall ADC office in Medziphema on 7th September 2020 with SDO Civil Medziphema, Tokai V Sumi as special guest. He spoke about good health and nutrition and also encouraged proper implementation of the Government schemes for the welfare of the public.
CDPO, Medziphema & ICDS project incharge Tsungrosongla administrated the Poshan Pledge and also briefed on the objectives of Poshan Abhiyaan with regard to reducing stunting and wasting in children and ensuring proper development, adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children, removing anemia among young children, women and adolescent girls, reducing low birth weight through proper nutrition and social and behavioural changes by building a people’s movement (Jan Andolan).

RASHTRIYA POSHAN MAAH LAUNCHED AT LONGLENG
Program for the launching of Poshan Maah was held at (EBRC) hall Longleng on 7th September 2020, with D. Robin ADC Longleng as special guest. The ADC led the gathering in reading out the Poshan pledge. T.Longlang, CDPO Longleng delivered a brief note on the poshan Maah. Dr. Philip Khing Dy CMO Longleng briefed on prevention of Anaemia among woman and adolescent girl’s. The programme was chaired by Longhong District Co-ordinator Poshan Maah.

RTA KOHIMA REVIEWS SOP FOR CITY BUSES/TAXIS
The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Kohima had a meeting on 4 September, 2020 at the Office Chamber of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
At the outset, ADC, Lithrongla T. Rutsa, welcomed the members and further highlighted the latest SOP for City bus and Taxis operation in Kohima town. The meeting decided the following SOPs for city bus and taxi operation, where seating arrangement in bus should be in zigzag manner leaving alternate vacant seats to maintain social distancing, and no standing passengers will be allowed. Every bus should be sanitized/ fumigated at the end of each day. Every driver and conductor should wear a face mask and also ensure that no passenger is allowed in the bus without a face mask. Hand sanitizer should be made available in the bus for passengers while boarding. Passengers are also asked to carry necessary fare to maintain minimum contact.
Further, in view of the current pandemic bus fare per passenger is fixed at Rs.20/- (rupees twenty) only till 30th September 2020 and will be reviewed with further relaxations in the SOP. Every bus owner should make sure that a transparent barrier between the driver’s cabin and passenger area is made to avoid contact. Driver and conductor should remain inside their vehicle and avoid group gathering or assembly at the work place. With no scope to maintain social distancing, Two-wheeler Taxi services will remain suspended till further notice. In a taxi only 3 (three) passengers are allowed 1 (one) beside driver and 2 (two) at the backseat and taxi fares will remain at Rs. 25/- (rupees twenty five) only per passenger and violators will be penalized as per relevant MV Act. Checking will be carried out from time to time by the District Administration, Police and M.V. Department. The new SOP for city bus and taxi services will come into effect from Monday the 7th of September, 2020.

DHO DIMAPUR DISTRIBUTES WINTER VEGETABLE SEEDS
District Horticulture officer Dimapur, Temsu distributed winter vegetable seeds on 7th September 2020, to the six organic vegetable villages under Dimapur District.
The vegetable seeds comprising of brocholi, cabbage, cauliflower, coriander, peas, beans, carrot and lettuce were distributed to the farmers of Bade, Khugovi, Zani, Virazouma, New Chumukedima and Ekhyo yan ( Domokia) vegetable villages under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture 2020 to 2021 from the DHO office premises Green Park Dimapur.
Addressing the farmers, DHO Temsu urged upon them not to use chemicals and asked them to keep up the name of organic vegetable village of the district. He further encouraged them to employ local youths in their farm for successful implementation of their farming project. Further, DHO Dimapur while observing the presence of different types of soil at Dimapur District, advised them for identifying the soil and to sow the seeds as per the suitability of the soil. He also impressed upon them to work sincerely with the aid given by the department and asked them to make vegetables self sufficient at least for Dimapur district, and assured all possible help from the Department.
The farmers from the 6 villages thanked the DHO for giving them seeds twice a year (summer and winter Seeds) and assured the department for maintaining it judiciously.

In pursuance to the Government of Nagaland Vide Order NO.CSO/GAB-I/COM/GEN-1/2020 (B) dated 31st August 2020 it has been informed that all types of business establishments/ shops under Mon Town will function from 9:00 am to 4:00 Pm every day except on Sunday wef 31st August 2020.
DIRECTORATE OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION INFORMS
The Directorate of Technical Education has informed all the candidates who have applied for NERIST Entrance Examination (NEE-2020), that the Institute has decided to defer the dates for NEE-2020.
The revised notification for admission through NEE-2020 shall be notified in 2nd week of September, 2020. The candidates are advised to check the institute website:www.nerist.ac.in / www.neeonline.ac.in regularly for updates.
NBSE NOTIFIES ON CSSS
In pursuant of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, Scholarship Division, letter no. 16-19/2020 NS-1 dated the 31st July, 2020, the Nagaland Board of School Education has notified for information of all concerned that the beneficiary students may open an account as an option in the Post Office or use existing Post Office account for the purpose of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships (CSSS).
The Post Offices are providing banking and insurance services, the banking services may be useful for the beneficiaries of such scheme as the Post Offices have some popular small saving schemes like Post Office Savings Bank Account (POSB) and Public Provident Fund Scheme (PPF). Therefore, the NBSE has requested all heads of institutions to disseminate this information to the students.
SCHOOL EDUCATION DEPT INFORMS
The Directorate of School Education has notified for the information of all concerned that the Ministry of Education is organizing “Shikshak Parv” on the theme of National Education Policy, 2020 for Principals, Teachers, Parents, Students, Schools, HEIs, TEIs, Government School Education Functionaries, Educationists, CSOs, etc. from 8th to 25th September, 2020. On this occasion, the Department will be organizing webinars, discussion, presentation etc. on different themes of NEP on different dates. A two days Conclave on NEP is also being organized on 10th & 11th of September 2020.
Therefore, Heads of all Schools (Both Govt. & Private) are hereby directed encourage teachers serving in their schools to watch these webinars/discussions etc. in virtual mode using the link https://www.mhrd.gov.in/shikshakparv/. Further, Heads of all Govt. Higher Secondary Schools and Govt. High Schools have been directed to make necessary arrangements at schools for teachers to watch the Conclave on 10th & 11th Sept. 2020.
