BRIEFING ON COVID-19 ON 5th OF NOVEMBER 2020 FOR NAGALAND BY PRINCIPAL SECRETARY, HOME
The full text is as follows:
“A meeting of the High Powered Committee on COVID-19 was held today under the Chairmanship of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Nagaland with the Co-Chairman, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister along with Members, the Hon’ble Minister, Health & FW, Hon’ble Minister, Planning, LR & Parliamentary Affairs, Hon’ble Advisor, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Hon’ble Advisor, IT & ST and NRE and senior officials of the State Government.
The High Powered Committee reviewed COVID-19 management and lockdown measures in the State. In this regard, a revised SOP for returnees and travellers entering Nagaland will be issued soon.
As regard the total number of COVID-19 cases detected today, it is 57 cases- 28 in Kohima, 26 in Dimapur, 1 in Mon, 1 in Mokokchung and 1 in Peren. The total number of positive cases in the State now stands at 9,264.
Out of the 9,264 positive cases, the total recoveries so far are 8,078. The active cases are 1,055 and there have been 39 deaths. As per the severity of symptoms 999 active cases are asymptomatic, 36 active cases are mild, 8 active cases are moderate on oxygen, 7 active cases are severe on oxygen, 2 active cases are critical without oxygen and 3 active cases are on ventilator.
Further, out of 9,264 positive cases, the distribution across various categories of people are: 3,995 cases of Armed Forces/ Police, 1,666 cases of Returnees, 3,151 cases of Traced Contacts and 452 cases of Frontline Workers.
A total of 63,550 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and results of 62,238 samples have been received. In addition, a total 34,038 samples have been sent for testing on Truenat and results of 34,028 samples have been received. Through Rapid Antigen Test 4,268 samples have been tested.”
RESOLUTIONS OF PDA MEETING HELD ON 5th NOVEMBER, 2020
The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) had a meeting on 5th November, 2020 at the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex. The Meeting was attended by Elected Members of the PDA, PDA Coordination Committee Members, and Chairpersons of PSUs. According to a release from the CMO, after deliberations and discussions, the House adopted the following resolutions:
- The PDA congratulated the State Government on the successful conduct of the Consultative Meeting on the Naga Political Issue held on 15th October, 2020 at the State Banquet Hall, Kohima. The House extended its appreciation to all the Tribal Hohos, Civil Society Organisations, Church Bodies, Political Parties, NGOs, stakeholders and individuals who attended and participated in the meeting making it successful and historic.
- The House welcomed and endorsed the resolutions of the Consultative Meeting held on 15th October, 2020 and supports the seven points resolutions which were unanimously adopted by the Consultative Meeting.
- The House deliberated on the proposal of the Leader of Opposition in his letter addressed to the Honorable Chief Minister dated 2nd November, 2020. The House observed that since formation of the Joint Legislators Forum (JLF) since 2009, the forum has been successfully playing the role of active facilitator in the Indo-Naga peace process and therefore there is no requirement to discontinue with the JLF at this crucial and late juncture. The House reiterated the Resolution of the PDA dated 20th August, 2020 wherein the House resolved to continue with the JLF. The House reiterates the appeal of the Government of India, through the Honorable Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, to the NPF to rejoin the JLF and also to endorse the Resolutions of the Consultative Meeting of 15th October, 2020, which was conveyed to the Leader of Opposition on 20th October, 2020 at New Delhi in the presence of Honorable Chief Minister and NEDA Convenor, Himata Biswa Sarma.
- The House congratulates the State Government, the Election Department, the Administration and Police, Tribal Hohos, NGOs and all sections who positively contributed towards the conduct of peaceful and successful bye-elections in two assembly constituencies of 14 Southern Angami I and 60 Pungro-Kiphire A/C. The House also congratulated the electorate of the constituencies for positively participating in the election and strengthening democracy in the grassroots.
FOCUS-IAFD CONDUCTS TRAINING OF CAHW IN LONGLENG
The FOCUS-IAFD project under the office of the District Agriculture office Longleng organized a one day orientation and training of Community Animal Health Workers (CAHW) on 3rd November 2020 at DAO office, Longleng.
A note on FOCUS:IAFD was briefed by Mokeya Tep, PIT i/c Longleng. He oriented the CAHW about their roles and responsibilities and the upcoming activities in livestock under the project. He further encouraged them to work earnestly for the welfare of their community through IAFD project implementation.
Dr. Bongtok Phom VAS-Resource person from Veterinary Department Longleng highlighted on the importance scope and management practices of livestock rearing. The programme was attended by the selected CAHW members from the thirty (30) project villages.
