The existing guidelines with regard to the Lockdown/ Unlock in all parts of the State issued vide Order of even number dated 31.08.2020, shall continue to remain operative in Nagaland till further Orders. This was stated in an official order by the Office of the Chief Secretary, Nagaland.




The full text is as follows:

“Today, an order has been issued wherein, the existing guidelines with regard to the Lockdown/ Unlock in all parts of the State issued on the 31st of August 2020 shall continue to remain operative in Nagaland till further orders.

A total of 81 COVID-19 positive cases have been detected today – ­­20 in Kohima, 57 in Dimapur, 1 in Longleng, 1 in Mon and 2 in Mokokchung. The total number of positive cases in the State now stands at 6,244.

Out of the 6,244 positive cases, the total recoveries so far are 5,094. The active cases are 1,078 and there have been 12 deaths. As per the severity of symptoms, 1,044 active cases are asymptomatic, 32 active cases are mild and 2 active cases are moderate.

Further, out of 6,244 positive cases, the distribution across various categories of people are: 2,974 cases of Armed Forces/ Police, 1,501 cases of Returnees, 1,423 cases of Traced Contacts and 346 cases of Frontline Workers.

A total of 51,305 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and results of 50,330 samples have been received. In addition, a total of 28,395 samples have been sent for testing on Truenat and results of 28,319 samples have been received. Through Rapid Antigen Test 1,777 samples have been tested.”




The Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland held a meeting with all political parties in the State at 2 pm today ie 1st October 2020 at Hotel Japfu, Kohima in view of the announcement of schedule of bye election by the ECI to fill up casual vacancy in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 14 Southern Angami I (ST) AC and 60 Pungro Kiphire (ST) AC.

The CEO and his team of officials briefed the representatives of the political parties about the broad guidelines issued by ECI for conducting elections during COVID-19, the various provisions of Election Expenditure Monitoring, the enforcement of MCC, about EVMs/VVPATs, and several other pertinent issues connected with the conduct of the bye-elections. The various IT initiatives taken by the Commission was also highlighted in the meeting. The CEO also informed about the Special Summary Revision of Electoral rolls with reference to 01.01.2021 as the qualifying date.

The representatives of BJP, INC, NDPP, NPF, NPP, JD (U), RPI (A) were present in the meeting.




Consequent upon the announcement of the Bye-Election to the 60 Pungro-Kiphire Assembly Constituency by the Election Commission India through a press No.ECI/ PN/67/2020 Dated 29th September 2020 and in pursuance of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland press release No.ELE/CDT-99, 2020 Dated 29th September 2020, the DC & DEO Kiphire Abhinav Shivam IAS has informed to all concerned that the Model code of conduct comes into force with immediate effect throughout Kiphire district. The political parties, intending candidates, Government departments and general public are informed to take note of the same and adhere strictly to the model code of conduct to ensure peaceful conduct of the said Bye Election.

Directorate of Social welfare celebrated International Day of Older Persons 2020 with the theme “Pandemics: Do they change how we address age and ageing” at the Social welfare Director’s chamber on 1st October 2020.

President Senior Citizen Association Nagaland Khekiye K Sema IAS (Rtd) speaking at the event said that Social Welfare is an important department as much can be done towards upliftment and protecting the welfare of the old age people. Sema said that senior citizens have much to contribute towards the society with their years of experiences yet very less opportunity are given to them. He also stated that naga society are blessed to have a strong customs and traditions whereby we take care of the elder people who are helpless and in need of care. Sema also reminded the younger generations to keep the traditions alive and take care of the elderly people.

Sema also urged the department to create a social order and norms to improve the welfare services and well-being of the senior citizen and the society as a whole.

The Department also gave awards to two distinguished senior citizens commemorating the event.

A programme to mark International Day of Older Persons was held at Meluri Village Council Hall on 1st October 2020 organised by Miiluori Shefiiri Kiigharii on the theme “Pandemic, do they change, how we address age and ageing”.

  1. Nyusietho Nyuthe was the guest speaker who emphasised on how older people paved the way for the young. He encouraged the senior citizens to be content with their lives and not ponder on old grudges and mistakes. The speaker expressed happiness that there was no history regarding the contraction of COVID-19 among the Meluri elderly people. Out of 138 older people above 75 years, 44 male and 47 females, a total of 91 attended the programme.

Along with the rest of state in celebrating the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, the Voluntary Blood Donors Association Kohima (VBDAK) in collaboration with Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and Blood Bank, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) organized a Walk-In Blood Donation Camp at Naga Hospital Kohima from 10.a.m – 3.p.m. on 1st October 2020.

This programme was organized to address the needs and shortage  of blood during this public health crisis where voluntary donors are needed more than ever and also to  maintain safe and adequate blood supply for patient in need. All safety measures were followed during the donation drive. All together 15 persons turned up to donate blood. The Voluntary Blood Donor’s Association Kohima has thanked all the voluntary donors for their response and contribution.

The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, in coordination with the Regional Metrological Centre, Guwahati issues weather updates for the coming days. Heavy to moderate rainfall activity is expected in the State over the following week.

The state of Nagaland registered rainfall deficiency of 26% during monsoon season from 01 June to 30 Sep. Rainy season is going to continue till about 20th of October 2020. A weather system has formed in the Bay of Bengal. Likely to persist over the region for the next 4-5 days. No extreme weather activity expected. However moderate rain and thunderstorms with lightening is expected mostly during evening and night between 01st -06th October 2020. Improvement of weather expected from 7th of October 2020 onward and light weather activity between 7th and 10th October 2020. During this period, thundershowers and lighting accompanied with heavy rams is expected in the districts of Kiphire, Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Peren, Phek and Tuensang. Moderate and Light rain is expected in Dimapur district.

NSDMA request all the DDMAs and other line departments who are responsible to remain alert and to attend to any emergences caused by natural calamities to save lives and properties during this period.

Through this press release, NSDMA, Home Department urges the public to be vigilant during this period from lighting and heavy rainfall in the region. Public are requested not to shelter under large tress and near the river banks to prevent unnecessary risk to life from lightning and landslide.



The month long programme of Poshan Maah 2020 under Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan culminated witha cooking competition conducted in collaboration with Wokha and Chukitong Block department ofSocial Welfare, held at Blue Hill colony, Wokha on 30th September 2020.

The cooking competition focused mainly on how to prepare food for pregnant women, lactating women and children from 0-6 years, all together 8 teams of Anganwadi workers took part in the competition. The judges for the competition are EAC, Wokha Imtinungula Longkumar, Dr.Khelito Zhimomi, DPO (RCH/UPI) Nodal Officer Poshan and SIS, FNHW, Gender Area coordinator R.Nzanbeni.

Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Orenthung Lotha who graced the culmination programmed as the special guest, said during the month long programmed many activities has been conducted to sensitize about the importance of nutrition among the pregnant, lactating mothers and children from 0-6 years involving the anganwadi workers. He also said malnutrition not only affects the health but affects mental growth as well and called for intake of proper nutrition required by our body for healthy life.

He also appealed to all persons involved in this scheme to rededicate themselves and give their best in terms of educating the people about the importance of nutrition so that our state can
also come at par with the national level.

State Project Management Unit (SPMU) team Kohima, Dr.Yongya Chiangmak who also spoke during the programmed lauded the efforts put in by Wokha team in successfully conducting various activities under this scheme and urged them to continue their hard work so that other districtcan also follow the good example in giving the nutrition message in the rural areas and level.

The district administration and District Level Center for Women (DLCW) – Mahila Shakti Kendra (BBBP) Phek under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao on September 30 organized a talk show on “Making a career in Music industry” with Kailash Kher, spiritual and Bollywood Sufi Singer, Lyricist, and Music composer as special guest.

Speaking through virtual platform, the special guest viewed that musicians are yet to get recognition from the society, unlike other professions, except from the musicians and the music fraternity.

He suggested that the aspiring musicians and artists should first win heart and souls before earning money. Kher maintained that there is still lack of industry and market for the artist owing ignorance of the people regarding about the benefits of music.

He also suggested that to take the music industry forward the people must not be confined within their border but explore beyond one’s region. He said music has miraculous powers to reform and transform the soul and stated that it must be pursued with a passion for helping one another. He lauded the organisers for the initiative to enlighten and bringing the musicians and music lovers into one platform share ideas. Further, he advised musicians to be disciplined.

Managing Director and founder of Nagaland College of Music and Fine Arts (NCMFA), conductor, composer and arranger, Vesato Theluo, stated that Music Industry in Nagaland have scope. He dwelled on various opportunities and careers in music and encouraged the Naga youths to take up music as a hobby as well as a profession, stating that the society is starting to appreciate and recognizethe importance of music.

Mercy Tetseo Musician/ Folk artist and storyteller, recalling the journey of her band into music said that although it looks fantastic it also has struggles. She said that music industry is growing with times and urged the aspiring musicians not to lose hope but maintain consistency in their efforts.

The keynote address was delivered by Phek DC Sachin Jaiswal, IAS, closing remarks was delivered by SDO (Civil) Bhavani Sri, IAS.

The programme was webcast live in Youtube and Zoom and was attended by Northeast states musicians besides the participants from the state and Phek district.

Peren District Task Force on COVID-19 meeting was held on 28th September 2020 at Deputy Commissioner’s Chamber, District Headquarter, New Peren to discuss matters related to COVID-19. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of DC Peren, Sentiwapang Aier who is also the chairman of DTF.

The meeting decided that the medical staff quarantine  at Centre Point Hotel Jalukie and requisitioned vehicles will be withdrawn at the earliest except for the vehicles the utilizing by the Medical Department as a continuation of exit plan for managing Covid-19 pandemic in the district.

The DTF decided to scout empty buildings in the veterinary clinic area Jalukie for feasibility of alternative quarantine Centre to accommodate Medical staffs on Covid duty and to expedite the planned sustainable Covid Care Centre at Zeliangrong Baudi Hall complex and Eye Hospital at Peren District Headquarter.

In reiteration of the standing SOP’s the house have emphasized the need to issue a reminder to the public for which the Sub-Divisional Task Force have been directed to issue reminder orders in their respective areas.
