            Tobacco free declaration program was held at Nsunyu village community Hall on 6th March 2019 for Nsunyu, Chunlikha and Likhwenmchu villages.

            ADC Tseminyu Nokchasashi Kichu as special guest of the program delivered a brief speech.He expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the three villages (Nsunyu, Chunlikha and Likhwenchu villages, called Kithagha group) for initiating and bringing themselves into reality as tobacco-free villages. ADC also said that village councils are the right bodies for taking up such firm decisions having tremendous impact on the entire community, and also challenged the neighbouring villages to follow the same.

            District Nodal Officer (NTCP) Kohima, Dr. Arenla Thong gave power point presentation on community sensitization as awareness to control using tobacco, during which she challenged the upcoming youth to save themselves from the influence of using Tobacco.

            At the program, State Nodal Officer (NTCP) and Jt. Director, Department of H&FW, Dr. Hotokhu Chishi made the declaration and said that there are four tobacco free villages in Tseminyu Sub-Division and twelve tobacco free villages in the State at the same time.

            Pledged taking ceremony in support of Tobacco Free Movement was led by Board Chairman NBC, Asao Seb.

            The program was chaired by VCC, Jesse Seb Nsunyu. Zukeya Woch. VCC Chunlikha shared about the initiative taken by the three village councils in Tobacco Free Movement. Invocation prayer and vote of thanks were pronounced by Pastor Nsunyu Baptist Church, Khitima Magh and Precilla Magh from Kithagha Mothers Association.

          The State will be celebrating the International Women’s Day on 8th March, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall, New Secretariat Complex. The program will be organized by the State Resource Centre for Women, Nagaland State Social welfare Board, Department of Social Welfare.

          On this significant occasion, Chief Secretary, Nagaland, Tali Temjen Toy, IAS will address the programme as the Chief Patron. The Department will be officially launching Sakhi- One Stop Centre in 9 districts and the Mahila Shakti Kendra (District Level Centres for Women) in 8 districts under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, GOI along with the launching of the official theme song for women ‘Rise, Naga Woman’.

            Awareness programme on Right to Information Act (RTI) 2005 was conducted by the Nagaland Information Commission at MMC Conference Hall, Mokokchung on 5th March 2019.

            In the programme, State Chief Information Commissioner, Chanbemo Lotha gave a power-point presentation on RTI 2005. The programme was attended by District officials:  First Appellate Authorities (FAAs), Public Information Officers (PIOs) and representatives from NGOs, College students, Churches, Village Councils, Mokokchung Municipal Council, Women groups, Civil Society organizations, RTI Activies etc. during the programme the visiting team led by State Chief Information Commissioner held interactions with the participants.

            Member Secretary PDA Coordinator Committee, Abu Metha has informed that a meeting of the PDA will be held on 8th March, 2019 at 1100 Hrs in the State Banquet Hall, Kohima.

            All PDA MLAs and Members of the PDA Co­ordination Committee have been requested to attend the meeting. The booklet on achievements of the PDA Government on completion of 1 year, which was released on 6th March, 2019 will be distributed during the program.




            The monthly SDPDB, Noklak meeting was held at DB’s Court, ADC Office Noklak on 5th March 2019. The meeting was chaired by Advisor and Chairman SDPDB Noklak, H. Haiying. At the outset the Chairman welcomed all the members present. Officers newly posted in the Sub-Division. 1. Neilezo Tep, ADC Noklak 2. Yithachu Thur, EAC Noklak 3. S. Ongpha Konyak, Inspector 4. M. Yangdikhum, Inspector of Industries, Noklak 4. Nishant Sinha, SBI Noklak Branch were introduced to the house.

            The Board reviewed the last meeting minutes and discussed the following agendas: Proposal submitted by the Nokhu Range Public Organization for creation of Police Station at Nokhu EAC Hq. was deliberated and approved for recommendation.

            Up-gradation of Govt. Middle School to Govt. High School, New Pangsha as forwarded by the SDEO Noklak was discussed and put forward for consideration.

            Permission for Christian School, Nokhu as forwarded by the SDEO Noklak has been discussed and agreed to be forwarded to the concern authority for approval.

            Establishment of Sub-Treasury Officer Office along with Officer and Staff posting as proposed by the Advisor and Chairman has been approved for forwarding to the concern authority for consideration.

            Departmental activities were presented by SMO Noklak, Dr. N.C Victor and EE (R&B) Noklak, Er. Hendo. The members were enlightened on the various activities being carried out by the respective departments under the Sub- Division.

            Department of PHE and SDAO Noklak have been entrusted to give presentation of their activities in the next meeting.

            The Advisor and Chairman of the Board encouraged the members present to have a good co­ordination amongst the various departments in carrying out the activities of the government in order to uplift the people of the area. He also acknowledged the presence of tribal leaders and the officers for their attendance. He further asked the officers to be regular in station and monitor their respective staff.

            Student Police Cadet program under Ministry of Home Affairs, GOI was launched at the Government Higher Secondary School, Phek in the presence of District Administration and Phek DEF officials. SDO James in his key note address said that this program aims to provide training to the students to become school level community police officers, and the project will be implemented for a period of 2 years with focus on students from class 8 to class 9.

            The Third session of the 13th NLA was prorogue by the Governor of Nagaland, P.B. Acharya at the conclusion of its sitting on 26th February 2019.

            The Third session of the 13th NLA was held from 23rd February and the session was adjourned sine die on 26th February 2019.

            The Session was marked by discussion and adoption of Government Resolution on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, passing of The Nagaland Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2019, presentation of Budget for the year 2019-2020 among others.
